Thanks to Sindhu’s record but Srikanth looks well on his way to protect the streak Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Seeing the Indian MS players performance recently, I really question the selection process for Thomas Cup. They wasted a good chance by choosing Sai Praneeth.
Wang Zhiyi only got herself to blame for not making the most of her opportunities to stop ASY. In G1, with a hefty lead, she almost screw up letting ASY back into the game, and esp in the decider when ahead most of the time in the latter half, yet at 19-16 up, she failed to close it out. Yes, WZY is at the same level as ASY but not as steady and consistent, also she tends to play safe shots to avoid mistakes when in the lead instead of piling on the pressure and taking a bit more risk to finish off the game or match. It's to ASY's credit when staring defeat in the face not to panic but soldier on until the very end, and it worked against a not too self-confident or mentally strong WZY. Let it be a lesson learnt for WZY and hope she emerges stronger in future.
Kidambi on a roll and riding high, drubbing Caljouw to book a place in the semis. I think we can expect to see him in the final. And who will be awaiting him, probably LKY, of course, going by his current form, seemingly unstoppable. Yes, barring unforeseen circumstances, I'd pick Loh Kean Yew as the favorite new world champion on Sunday, if only for toppling the reigning world champ Viktor Axelsen in sensational fashion in the very first round, thereby doing everybody, including himself a big favour.
First of all, BAI doesn’t give a sh*t about team tournaments l. Second of all, historically their team selection has been based on players’ rankings rather their current form. Third of all, no MS player appeared in good touch then- SK was struggling, HSP and LS lost in the selection trials Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, but the whole point of selection trial was not to go by ranking but current form. But they still ended up excluding Sai Praneeth from trials due to him being in top 20, even though he has not been in good form since 2019.
Lol steen went on and on about how Thailand hasn’t medaled in XD since 2006 when the pair on court were in finals the last time. Thank god he realised that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
At last, TTY getting through the semi-finals. Funny coincidence: she has to go past the very two players who booted her out of the World Championships 2019 (Sindhu) and 2018 (HBJ) to reach the final this year.
