The player returned a positive result to a mandatory RT-PCR test conducted on Friday. His doubles partner has been identified as a close contact and has also been withdrawn from the tournament. Their opponents will be given a walkover to the final. Testing protocols have been implemented in accordance with Badminton World Federation and Badminton Association of India guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all participants. Good to see Mohd Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan progressing to yet another Final and they have a chance to win their first ever India Open title tomorrow, facing a tough match against the second-seed Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty. I thought they would have some problems today in their SF match against the WC 2021 Bronze Medallist Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi. Surprised to see them winning comfortably in straight sets without any fuss. The MAS pair has been consistently reaching the later rounds of the past 8 tourneys (reaching SFs in 4 and QF in 3 - the only tourney they lost in R32 was the Hylo Open). Quite surprised to see them not in the Draw for next week. Meanwhile, Loh Kean Yew and Terry Hee/Tan Wei Han keep the Singapore flag flying; thanks to the WO today. It would have been better if the tournament was postponed. We are at the peak of third wave. So many cases so I was really surprised when I got to know tournament will go on as planned. Maybe tomorrow, one of the finalists will win the final without even playing who knows ?
