Seems like Pearly Tan has managed to avoid severe ligament injury. But this article is really worrying. The coach wants to enter her for the European tournaments and the World tour finals. Just let her get fully better and build up that leg properly with rehabilitation and strength and conditioning. Is the coach really pushing for it or the reporter? https://www.nst.com.my/amp/sports/badminton/2022/09/829034/pearly-race-against-time-european-swing
They finally overcame their mental block against Matsuyama/Shida! Thinaah has improved a lot. Much more consistent and less unforced errors compared to the beginning of the year - she can now really support Pearly's creativity now.
Seems the roles switched. Pearly is the one with nerves and making mistakes. Thinaah has become the solid and dependable one. In short, Pearly is the perfect partner for Thinaah ( instead of the other way round)
During yesterday's match, the opponents were targeting Pearly. She was getting 75% of the shuttle. I was worried her knee couldn't hold. It did. Thinaah did had her moments of magic but must make the points count when the opportunity comes. It was a good win and wish them luck tonight.
Exactly! They still tend to make silly mistakes too ( case in point ..tally the service errors they made last night) Also your first paragraph was exactly my point. Used to be everyone was targeting Thinaah...she was the one making mistakes
Pearly must be counted as fortunate that she's making this tournament. The injury looked very worrying. .
Congratulations to Tan/Thinaah for their maiden World Tour title. I reckon that the moment when they beat Shida/Nami would encourage them to go the full distance throughout the tournament. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
A mature display of performance mixed with spirit to win! Amazing performance by Pearly and Thinah, both of them have shown a lot of improvement since the last year alone.
Not their maiden title actually, they won the Swiss Open 2021 last year albeit in the absence of top pairs. But the first one where the top pairs were present and equivalent to an SS! I'm glad I've been proven wrong - I thought there is really no future in Pearly staying in WD in Malaysia but Thinaah's improvement has been impressive this year to say the least. Congratulations to both of them! Well-deserved title. Very hungry, adventurous and makes stale women's doubles exciting to watch. Also cut down a lot of her unforced errors. Some of it came back in G3 today but otherwise she played a very solid French Open.
Maybe the plan was for LZJ, Aaron Chia and SWY to purposefully lose first round so that we could all support Pearly and thinaah to the eventual title
If they keep this up, they will surely be voted most improved players this year. Sent from my SM-G988W using Tapatalk
