why would they be on different level? Compared to AE, WC is fairly new. When i grow up , the most tournament i look up to is AE. I think its the same for many people. In any case even if they add up together CaiFu has more than Minions. Never said CaiFu is less than Minions in that regards.

ae is prestigious, i don't mind when people call it semi-major, but to call that tournament to be on the same level as wc is so stupid. why do you think all these indonesian mds that are so dominant in world tour, suddenly couldn't do anything at the wc ? the last 2 winners of ae were indonesian pairs, yet when it comes to world championship only ahsan/setiawan can win it. this tournament clearly put some mental pressure on players more than any other tournament except for the olympics, and that alone should tell you something

    Here we go again.
Every fan has their own opinions which they based on their favourite player's achievements.

We can discuss till the cows come home, ****, bathe, sleep and go grazing the next day and there still won't be any conclusions. :D

    Ya loh,
That's why I've never been interested in such debates but just enjoyed every game.
If you can see every match and every player objectively then no matter how fanatical you are towards a player you will still be able to enjoy the match.
    Teh tarik please...

No disrespect to Prannoy, I hope he gets silver or a gold medal at this WC to complete his career, but you cannot compare Prannoy to prime Momota, period. There just is no comparison of Prannoy to prime Momota.

Also, I checked the record and matches of Antonsen vs Prannoy:

    https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...33E64CC&T1P1MemberID=91554&T2P1MemberID=83950

Their last match was in 2018 and 2017, which was 5 years ago! Antonsen was still an up and coming player 5 years ago, he didn't get to the finals of the WC until 2019. Antonsen was not in his prime in 2017 or 2018. I would say Antonsen's prime was between 2019 and 2021, where he won the most tournaments and had his highest ranking (the last 2 years was a drop off for Antonsen, until his recent Korean Open win).

But in any case, Prannoy is just not prime Momota. No Men's Singles player left in this tournament is close to prime Momota, IMO. So I stand by my statement that every remaining MS player is beatable for Antonsen.

Thanks for correcting me, LD had 5 WC, not 6 :p.

I remember LD didn't even care about the 2014 WC. He didn't bother to rejoin the tour in time, to get the points, to make the 2014 WC. And in 2014, he still had the potential to win the WC, given that he won the Asian Games in 2014, and beat Chen Long in the finals to win it.

And the irony is, BWF didn't give LD a wild card for the 2014 WC, like they gave him a wild card for the 2013 WC, which he won. Oh well, 5 WC or 6 WC, when you win that many WC, I guess it doesn't make a huge difference to LD, lol.

Now I dont usually like to post in length but given WC/OLY are my FAVOURITE and Year's biggest tournaments then Im compelled to share this.

As someone who has written posts on GOATS and LEGENDS and have the honour to have interacted with a few of them Namely -: Madam Gao Ling,Sir Zhang Jun and Madam Camilla Martin ) I can say...All of these emphasised the Olympics and World Championships achievements as biggest of their career.

The fact will always remain that you can be No.1 for as long as you want but unless you win the biggest tittle of the year of your sport your No.1 wont help you being remembered as a FORMER WORLD CHAMP OR OLY CHAMP

    lemme explain by eg -:
    LIST 1 -: Aron/Soh,LKY,PV vs
    LIST 2 -: Minions,TTY,LCW

    Whats the difference ?

List 1 -: 4 Players who despite being no.1 went on to win the biggest tittles of the year in their sport a real victory and showed the world that you dont have to be a no.1 to become a World champion all you need is firm determination,Strong mentality and hard work

List 2 -: 4 Players who despite being no.1 and as its usually slated by their fans as the best in the entire existence of the badminton universe and yada yada etc but despite all of that magic, power, excellence, skills and talent couldnt win a single major tittle of their sport ?

Now obviously the fans of the list 2 players would say "Oh WC/Oly doesnt matter its a very minor tourny" or "It takes real hard work to stay consistently no.1 for so long" or "Talk about Asian Games,World tour finals or All England"

Now whats the difference between List 1 and List 2 ?

The diff is that you cant question the list 1 players cause they won it despite being the no.1 however, the List 2 players and their inability to win the biggest tittles of the sports despite being the best as per ranking is a question to wonder !

MS is the biggest and most prestigious discipline. 4 other sectors combined together still cant tie its shoelaces.

That said, the timing suck. Every match is 10pm+ in my time, i dont think i have watch 1 MS match at all this tournament.

China Open prize money increased from 1.25 to 2 Million . $$$ . It should be like this for S1000. Well done. Its very good for the players.

wonder if they will increase the WTF one as well?

    Hope it continues this way.
