I would like to say that making "assumptions" and "jumping to conclusions" is a job for the meddling paparazzi / reporters, not for decent badminton lovers such as in this forum. We "just singers" and "just actors" already have a bad time with the media praying on us like animals, but it is a surprise to see that mentality here. Let me tell you honestly that I DID NOT ask Xie Xing Fang to come and see me, which is, quite a callously wild guess. She asked whoever that man was to BRING HER OVER TO ME to ask me for a personal favour for her on behalf of Lin Dan which is something you won't need to know. I've never had any intention of looking for her on the court or anywhere else. I'm afraid I know what it is like to have groupies chasing me, so I would not make it a point to bother other people. It took me nearly 1 hour of immediately making many phone calls (missing many parts of the doubles games) to fulfill that favour for her and she thanked me endlessly for it. She was very polite when she asked me, and I was happy I could do something for her. I told her how well she played and that was that. I guess since she didn't know my number, as we, "just singers", don't JUST hand them out, and she didn't know me in person, her only alternative was to come up into the seating to ask me. OBVIOUSLY that is NOT alright with YOU. I am writing to you now because I hope you make it a point to adjust your inaccurate thinking. There's already enough negative people in this world. I would like to believe most people are GOOD at heart so if you happen to see something that is clearly, "none of your business", then you shouldn't make it your business to make a snide comment which is so completely... to quote you exactly..."just not appropriate". It is harmful to misinterpret to a wide audience, something you know nothing about, as no one, including yourself, knows the truth about such a harmless personal incident, until now. I'm sure that Xie would not come up to me if she thought some people would think like you have. The worst thing about paparazzi and reporters is that all the false rumors they spread are believed by the innocent people that read their defamatory writings. We artists cannot protect ourselves from those wolves, but we hope that decent people outside of that vicious circle will not bare the same claws. Hi Sally, I think that red has TOTALY over-reacted and misinterpreted what happened, and I know you are very upset about this, but please forgive him because it seems that he's a big fan of Xie's, and I think you know how some fans could over-react with respect to their idols. For what it's worth, I've always thought that you and Xie were just having a friendly chat and Xie was probably expressing how excited she was to meet you. It's really great to see photos of you at the HongKong open. I'm sure your presence would have promoted badminton even more in Hong Kong. You are doing a great job promoting our beloved sport! Hello NP, I do appreciate you for your understanding and of course your acceptance of the TRUTH be told, but I only know how excited Fans can be which is why I tell my Fans to respect every other Artists and I really won't respect them as my fans if they miscontrue or disrepect other Artists. Obviously you are a kind and big hearted person, but I want to voice this out not for the purpose of my own reputation or name but because I hope this person will learn a valuable lesson about other peoples feelings, and ask himself, what can he gain by miscontruing a situation to the malicious degree that he has resulted in? Of course he is only one person but it only takes one to be disruptive or destructive. IF he cares so much about his idol, then I can only say, if Xie were to see what he thinks and wrote, she would literally fall off her rocker in shock. I find it rather amusing that Red would say I didn't stand up to greet his Idol. I didn't get up, 1st because there was no reason to (I certainly don't expect ANYone to get up for ME) 2nd, I had no idea she was heading my way until she actually got to me. I too, was surprised that the guy climbed over everyone to me and asked if Xie can ask me something. I think people even moved out the way so Xie could get to me. Immediately I bent forward to pull her over to me cos she was standing on the second tier below me. If I were to stand I would be 5 feet taller than her. I could barely hear her cos she is so painfully shy and I'm sure she felt awkward coming to look for me too. I kept going "huh?....huh?" to hear what she was saying. I certainly wouldn't have such a creative thought to ask ANYone to come all the way to the audience section and CHAT with me? I have no idea where his mind travelled to it's deepest depths to accuse me. About WHAT would I chat with her at that moment when the FINALS are going on? I came to WATCH the games. That's what I was there for! I just find it mind boggling that some people, BESIDES people that berate people for a living, would make such defamatory accusations, WITHOUT even having so much as an aquaintance with those people, or being right smack there with his ears WAY UP listening in on the conversation. ALL Red SAW was her walking up to talk to me and he can fabricate his own miserable FAIRY TALE! THAT is quite UNbelieveable and furthermore UNacceptable by my standards as a human being... not as a public figure. I was just a plain old badminton enthusiast, sitting as an audience member, minding my own business like everyone else, enjoying a thoroughly entertaining badminton tournament. I hope badminton won't end up with the cutthroat sports maniacs like some soccer nuts that want to kill everyone that roots for another team. That is why I'm writing soo much! I don't expect anyone to be my fan. That is a freedom of choice. I do admire other Artists too and there is no one specific I like. I appreciate people for their talents whatever kind of Artists they are. You know, even Cheung who took the photos here came over and introduced himself to me. I thought that was very sweet of him. I didn't know him but he was very polite and friendly. I was happy to meet a face from this written forum. Certainly I did not "summon" him to come have a word with me too. It's a very small badminton world in HKG still, which I was disappointed to see. In 5 days time even the finals was not completely filled. The stadium only seats 3000. The VIP seats were never full and most of the days, empty seats were abundant. It is not unusual to meet many players of aquaintance in such a small stadium coming up left and right to say HI. BUT the good news is that badminton is the most played sport in HKG, far more than tennis or squash. There are more than 50 venues to play badminton in HKG alone. It is a fast growing sport, here and everywhere else. I do hope I can use whatever fame and name I have to promote badminton which is a sport I really really love to an obsessive degree! I was trying to get a seat for the final, unfortunately, it was SOLD OUT!!! It was disappointing to see that the stadium eventually had empty seats that were not sold to fans. I know of a few more badminton fans that could not get seats for the final.
Hello BM, I totally agree and I felt so bad for my friends cos I bought 7 $300 dollar front row seats but were far right of the courts. On the finals I looked over to the front seats for my friends only to discover not a single one of them were there! They all somehow found passes from the coaches and ended up sitting in the court area for the press and players seats, which were ALL empty, or empty VIP seats . Ended up Sunrise was so kind to give me 6 passes during the first game and I didn't use them cos all my friends had passes too! Too bad I didn't know you then! So some better organisation can be applied for sure. Actually QE is a great venue for badminton cos anywhere you sit, no matter how high up is a good view, but the VIP, then the VVIP allotted tickets took up all the best seats. I'm sure they did this because they know the the box office for badminton is not quite there yet. I hope one day Badminton will be at the HKG coliseum which can seat 12,000 max. Sally
