Now I'm just confused?...Perhaps I should just buy the NS9000S, save some more, and buy an MP-99 then I get the best of both performances
You may not even go back to the MP-99 anymore. There might be something different next time you want to get another racket.
It depends what you want. If you want the buzz and bling of having the latest racket, then get the Nano9000. If you only care about the quality of your badminton performance, get the Mp99. Even better, why not try both rackets? Some racket stores allow you to "demo" rackets. Try both so you can compare them. If you are unsure, then go for the Mp99 because it's cheaper and objectively just as good a racket. Some people get lots of fun out of new equipment; others don't. If you don't, then why waste money? Remember that rackets have only a tiny influence on your performance. Between two top rackets (such as these), there will be very little difference in how well you play. Technique, tactics, and fitness are what matter.
After having used a MP-99 in the past, its not a bad idea for you to try out the NS9000S. There's no harm switching rackets, people does that all the time and not like it makes a dramatic difference in your performance.
Agree with ants. Won't go back to MP99 or AT once get used to NS9000. By the way, IMO, NS9000S 2U is much better than 3U in terms of control and power.
would that still be the case if I have a prejudice against 2U rackets? I find 2U to be a bit slow sometimes.. I know it's a personal preference thing, but I've never tried any 2U racket that I actually liked.
Just to make this a little more complicated , how does NS8000 compare to NS9000S and X? Sorry , just looking to keep my options open as I have borrowed a racket off a freind until I can find a replacement.
NS9000 is more head-heavy than NS8000, but both have low air resistance design. This means if you have good wrist power, NS9000 can be as fast as NS8000. Power wise, NS9000 is more suitable for smash. It's easier to smash than NS8000, and also has less vibration when smashing. 1. Another reason to go for NS9000 is " the string pattern" . This is the very important reason for me to go for ns9000. NS8000/AT800's pattern provide smaller sweat spot and if U hit on the top area, it's easy to break the string or make a bad shot. NS9000's pattern got rid of this drawback. It has the top area covered with cross just like traditional patterns. This main reason and it's other wonderful performance made me purchase it my rating is as below: _______drive_ net _smash_ slice_ clear__ defence NS9000 _9 __8.5___ 10___ 9 ____10 _____9 NS8000 _10 ___9 ___8.5 ___8.5 __8.5 ___9.5 We can see, they are both good and all round. But IMO, ns9000 has a better distribution and more of an "ALL ROUND " racket. 2. Espacially, when I use NS8000, my slice is less a threat because my smash was not so powerful comparing with AT700/MP100/NS9000. Smash: NS8000 => good when u got well prepared NS9000=> very good at " anytime/ anywhere" This makes the difference
By the way, forgot to mention, NS9000 is very sensitive to the string tension and weight distribution. If you don't like this racket, try more combinations of string and grip. If you find the right one, it will be a wonderful raqcket. My combination : NS9000S 2UG5 + BG80 28lbs + wilson pro overgrip ( without any other grip) I use a full grip for the racket. Since this grip is for Tennis, it can be thin enough for badminton without replacement grip. (not enough for some ppl I guess)
Thanks Foo.tw Your comparison has practically made my mind up about getting the NS9000, now theres just one thing to settle, Type S or Type X. I am looking for the one which will offer the best all round performance combined with the best ease of use. (I am guessing this would be the Type S) However, is the stiffness and weight distribution of the X similar to that of the MP-99? Thanks again! Jay
I've got a question for those who own or have tried both the NS9000 X and S types (and NS8000 if possible) I currently use a 3U AT800DE, and I'm quite happy with the power and speed it provides me. However, after trying 3U NS8000, I loved it. For me (I realise this isn't the same for everyone) I got a lot more smash power and manuverability with the head light NS8000 (I kind of hated the 2U and 3U NS7000 that my friends had) I'm planning on getting a new racket in the near future, but I'm not sure which one to get. Everyone seems to recommend the NS9000 type S, but the extra smash power of the type X is intriguing. I'm a very offensive player, but I don't want to give up a lot of manuverability or shot variety for smash power either... What do you guys think?
The only difference is the stiffness. NS9000X is very stiff while NS9000S is a bit soft. If you like NS8000 more than AT800DE, U might like 9000X more. The stiffness of NS9000S is quite like AT800DE.( slightly softer)
i think the NS9000X is stiffer than AT800OFF. the NS9000X is one of the stiffest rackets i have ever played with.
For me, Mp99 is much more stiffer than a Ns9K-S and produces much more power and control. Ns9K-S feels more agile and quicker and reacts faster for defense thou.
