Maaaaan, I don't feel good. I'm always advocating "racket up" and I got hit, point blank in the eye. Ouch! Sorry if I look sleepy, I am, it's 6:46am and I just got back from SGVBC.
ouch, that must have hurt. i once saw a guy in my uni get hit in the glasses (and it was a glass lens as well) which shattered and shards of the glass went into his eye! they called an ambulance, and he was fine the next day ... thank goodness!
Ahh, I saw the same sort of thing thing happen too (at a YMCA surprisingly enough). Although the glass lens shattered, no shards of glass got into the guy's eye thankfully. Anyways, sorry to hear that you got hit in the eye Dink. Same thing happened to my buddy and he couldn't really see out of one eye for a few days.
Just wait till tomorrow morning. Your eye will turn purple. PS. If your eye turn red (blood shot) or white color wall turn looks like different color go to ER. Get well soon.
Thanks Sir, I already iced it down big time, it was much worse at the club. It's fine, I see perfectly. I was lucky I closed my eye in time. I actually had my racket up, just not close enough to my face to block the shuttle which came at a weird angle. Oh, the story how I got hit: it was actually my racket's fault. I have three AT700s, all strung at different tensions (testing strings). One is strung at 30lbs., another 27lbs., another 25lbs. I was playing against BC's own Jumpalot who did a nice tumbling net drop. I should have cleared but wanting to get Jumpy, I went to re-drop and thought I was using the 30lbs. string tension racket. Thinking it was 30lbs. (I was actually using the 25lbs.), I over compensated too much, the shuttle tumbled, but sailed too high. I immediately ducked and did "racket up" but didn't get the racket there in time and POW! got hit with a half net smash point blank.
Ouch, Dan, hope you're doing ok.. oooh, boy and esp. after reading your post describing what happened, wow, that's must've stinged quite bad(i feel as if i have that bruised also)...hmmm Anyways, get some rest, make that lots of rest, that's most important; and maybe you can post more here instead during your rest..
Sorry to hear about this DinkAlot. Jumpalot, maybe focus on restraint next time, as you don't need POWER at point blank. Get well soon Dink. -dave
Maybe advocate 'racket block' next time? Nonetheless, racket up is a common coach teaching in my place... I take it that you were the net man in this round?
Wow, Dan, you actually played until 6am. You guys at SGVBC are trully badminton fanatics. You should just stick to breaking rackets and shoes ONLY.
Hope you are feeling better now Dink. I am very envious that you guys got the opportunity to play badminton as long and whenever you want. A nightsession with friends must be fun !
Thanks Dave, but it wasn't Jumpalot's fault. He did what any player in his/her position would do. He's at the net, the shuttle popped up and he just put it away. Like I said before, it's my racket's fault.
I suggest getting a pair of Oakley M Frames with their protective lenses. Good value since you can interchange lenses. I use the clear ones for badminton and the tinted lenses when playing beach vball or any other active sport outdoors
Ouch that looks painful. Get better soon, need to see your next episode of equipment breaking to remind me to be careful with my own =P This also makes me really glad I wear glasses with shatterproof lenses.
I hope I don't break too much more stuff. However, 4 days after receiving my AT700s, I already cracked the cone on one of them. When I dry swing the racket back and forth it makes a cracking/popping noise.
already? hmmm, you should really reconsider your choice of racquets, i think the yonex range is too fragile for you. time to stick with sotx period. oh yeah, be sure to post it when it happens, not if but when ...
