In North America it's pronounced "Eng", in Asia it's pronounced "Ung"

One more classic from our friend, the commentator, after a devastating Hafiz smash during the Hafiz/Evans match:
"You can hear the Malaysian fans cheering... all 6 of them"
I'm beginning to like this bloke.:p

I remember this commentator now. He is the same one that did the Sydney Olympics. He got Tony and Candra mixed up.

On a rating on 0-10, I'm being generous and giving him a 2. Why have they got him commentating? He talks like he's in front of a TV having a beers. It wouldn't be so bad if he had some technical knowledge but .....he doesn't!

Very rough talking - not something I would expect if IBF were to use this to showcase promotion of the sport. Somebody had better advise them to get rid of this guy. A good commentator is an advertisement for the game.

He mentioned during one of the matches he'd lived in Singapore for 33 years, so there you have it.

He's the english commentator who talks like he is trying to swollow his own tongue. He also succeeds his fellow commentators comments with words like 'excellent' and 'superb'...

He said something about him playing in some rural badminton team in china or something...

I don't have anything against him personally. But I hate those commentators (in any sport) who doesnt really add anything useful to the commentary. Keeps on saying 'what a wonderful smash that was..' and 'what an excellent net shot he played...'

The only badminton commentator is really like is the English lady with name starting with 'G', can't remember her full name,

The only genuine badminton commentator around is Gillian Clark ..... I believe she was ex-badminton player herself ...... The worst ones are from RTM (Malaysia) .... For post match analysis, Indra Gunawan is a good choice and this is provided you understand Bahasa Indonesia/Malaysia .... I'm not sure about Zhao Jianhua, somebody mentioned that he is good .....

For me, I think Gillian is just okay. She's for the general audience, because she doesn't provide much new information/technical analysis to audiences who already know about badminton.

I think Zhao is the perfect commentator for badminton fans. It's like you are being given an oral coaching session if you listen to him.

I've not heard Indra talk. But I'm sure he knows what he's talking about.

So, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

He doesn't know what he's talking about and he's proud to show it too. Nevertheless he keeps simpletons like me entertained ;)

Definitely not a Malaysian because he pronounced the MAS women's doubles coach as Cheah Soon "KIAT" and not "KIT":D

The pronounciation is bad --- the lady commentator last night kept saying XIA XIA Fang instead of XIA XING Fang. And Han was almost doing the same. He could have corrected the lady commentator by telling her how to pronounce Chinese names.
