Tony and Candra can only play together in the next WC if the World Championship Qualification rules allows 2 players from different countries to enter as a doubles team. The last time Candra and Tony played together, I think Candra was still representing Indonesia.

When Tony first left Indonesia, was he required to sign a contract that says he's not allowed to represent another country in tournaments for a number of years? Even if Candra decides to represent USA and play with Tony, he probably needs to sign the same contract.

Also congrats to Gao Ling/Huang Sui to become the WC for WD for the third times! Wow!!! Now Gao Ling had 4 WC titles along with her XD title.

The only major title she and Huang Shui have not had is Olympic gold medal. Maybe in Olympic 2008? It will be a sweet way to closed her career.

Lots of Indonesia MS bad achievement can be placed at PBSI official hands. They play golden children rules if the players can produce titles. They did not want to waste money by sending juniors to big events. Beside from their golden fav players, the others players can only play maybe 4-6 times a year.

Except if the new players had really top talents like Mia Audina or Taufik Hidayat.
Maybe PBSI can follow China badminton rules about money prize?

The players in China only get 50-70% (I am not sure how much) from the prize money. The rest will be given to China badminton association so that they ad money to support and sending another juniors players to lots of tournaments even if the junior lost several times at first.

After the players retire from badminton, usually they will had a free college education and if you had win major title or Olympic medal, a house will be given to you so the players would not had to worry about their old days.

Different for Indonesia sportsman. When you are in the top, lots of officials from government will praise you and give you all the money. But after you retired, you will get nothing and they did not care about your welfare even if you dedicated more than half your life in sports.

Out of a topic for a moment :D

About the prize money. I know that lots of people did not agree with China rules. But it make sense for players who come from poor or medium family who did not had money to send heir sons or daughters abroad to play in lots of events.

Tennis for examples. Indonesia had lots of talented tennis players but only one or two make a name in international tennis. Lots of them only enter Indonesia small events cause they did not had the money to go abroad or hire top coaches. Pelti (Indonesia tennis association) also complain they did not had enough money to funding those players.

So what about China? 3 years ago nobody in the world even hear about China tennis players. But these days, China players specially in women already made their name in tennis.

Thanks to China tennis association who funding those players all the way when they started. Although they only reached first or second round. And then the players started winning.

Now China had one player Lina in Top 20 WS, the third country in Asia to do that after Japan and Indonesia. They even had Olympic gold from WD and this year 2 grand slam title from WD Yan/Zheng. Currently they rank 2 in the world.

Zheng alone made about 740.000 only for this year from doubles and singles. And the couples qualify to year end tournament which only top 4 doubles players can compete with the winner will get 250.000 dollar.

If those players had to fund the expenses money alone at the start of their career, I doubt they will achieve what they achieve today.

Maybe Indonesia sports can follow the same way. Funding all the cost. From training to the cost expenses of going to tournaments. After the players started winning they had to give 40% of the winning for 3 years. And then maybe 30% for the nest 2 years. Gradually only 20-10% for the next years until they retired. Kind of like manager fee.

After retired, you will et free college education and if you achieve some major titles or medal, you will get free house and job for you.

It will be a boring day tomorrow except for MD at least we can cheer for the players we like. The crowd was so quiet today during the matches between the chinese.

If you all hear someone shout for England, that probably is me as I will root for them. Chinese got loads of supporters from the embassy today. They even print their own T-shirt and distribute it during the match. They are just so rich, big banners, lots of flags.........

    Off topic..On WC qualifications..

sorry guys if i'm taking this off topic..
    ..yah, i kinda thought abt that rule...haiz...oh well...:p :(
IMO, i think IBF should change the rule on this for the WC...For me personally, the WC is more like an "Individual Open", a collection of all the top players in the world..As long as the players can garner enough points to qualify for a spot & a chance to win a WC, heck why not. I mean if Dean Schoppe??(USA) can go & join this WC on his own budget, esp. with his world ranking, hey why can't Tony and Candra go and compete.?!?!..  :p ;)
For Olympics and Thomas/Uber Cups and Sudirman Cup, i understand, i think the rule should still stay as is...;)

But both Tony and Candra can represent INA, right, USA will not care. I don't care whom they represent, I just want to see whether they can play, and whether can win against Tu/Cai, they lost to Fu/Cai last time recently at 6 star tournaments.

I wish Bao Chunlai will not choke in the finals and beat Lin Dan for once.

I don't think Chinese performance beyond every-one's prediction. Actually all experts knew that already. Last WC, China got 6 final positions, and that's the worst in many years. And this time, LYB guaranteed that CHN will definitely outperform last time, and nobody disagree. They only disagreed better than last WC by how much and how many postions in the finals. Then it finally turned out just 1 final position better! For definitely better than 6 in final, 7 is the least good.

It's obvious that it's much better than last time in Men's singles. That's the only event I pay attention. Last time all CHN players except LD failed to reach semi-final. But this time, They all entered Semifinal except CJ.

But if you look at the mixed doubles, it's a disaster for CHN. Before the WC, I was told by insiders that China will do extra-ordinarily good in mixed, I was told to watch the mixed double, would know how strong China team would be. But in reality, it turned out to be a nightmare.:crying:

Don't worry. Bao will win in straight sets. Anthony Clark will take 2 titles, both in rubber sets.

China really rule this time WC..No a single chance for Indo,Denmark,Malaysia and korea...Although many of us don't like LYB because of his attitude and of course including me but sometime we can't denied that his exist really has make china proud...Just look at him, before the WC,he assured that china will get at least 3 gold medals and he did it...So,what can we say...

The match start at 2pm today Madrid time GMT +1 and finish at 6pm. The order of play is out yesterday but I can only get it later.

Anthony have such a powerful backhand smash and I am really amazed with their performance.
