He has to win a major tournament before that.

is it too early to say that after Li Mao's departure to Korea, LCW's performance has been going straight downhill? it is very hard to avoid seeing the connection.

Malaysia must have over-spend their budget for this euor-trip, so they order all players to lose as early as possible... this way they can save on hotel, food, and travel cost.:p

This is like watching Liu Xiang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liu_Xiang) won the gold in 110 metres hurdles in Olympics. Never tired and just feel good feelings.

I know. He is a completely different player than hafiz. he came from nowhere to win then almost disapear. LCW has consistently been near the top for almost three years now.

if that is indeed the case, then BAM really shot their own foot on this one. here there is a very promising player like LCW, and then some management mis-decision left him out in the dark.

I think so. Li Mao and LCW seemed to have good relationship (a number of news stories posted on BC mentioned it).

May be BAM canot be held fully responsible though, Li Mao may have simply not liked living in MAS/ wanted more money.

Also LCW may be partly to blame with BAM, if he annexed himself from other MAS coaches except LM, this leaves him with no one to rely on with LM gone, BAM should not let this happen, but Politics unforunately plays apart in every walk of life-even at the expense of a national talent.

In any case, we will see. If LCW is a good player with good attitude though he should be able to motivate himself to playing to a high level still. This current perceived blip is just that (he did still reach QF in AE, and Susilo was very close to beating Bao in AE too) Hopefully he can rediscover his flair play, which seemed to be lacking with Li Mao's influence.

Does anybody know what on earth happened to Taufik. Wasn't he supposed to be up against PG in the first round for the swiss open? I've been out of the loop for about a week and a half, but I thought that he was in this?!

As Kwun says LCW has been going downhill since WC 2006 and majority of his lacking results have been with Li Mao by his side. As i said before its tough to remain on top and if you loose a bit faith in yourself it might result in having a hard time for months until the player regains confidence and starts winning the right matches again.
