A bit of comments on the draws.. ..just saw the draws a few minutes ago...Not eye-opening but definitely quite interesting..Yes, there is definitely a significant presence of the JPN players. Imagine if the Shiota & Ogura combo were to come and participate, the place will fill up even more. But i'm sure with a boat load of JPN players, ie. Kanako Yonekura and her compatriots, the place will def. fill up.. Hmm, also looks like this yr's draw will be a make-up event for some of last yr's players who were supposed to come and compete, but cancelled last minute. Namely Minarti Timur and the 2 INA's playing for Philippines. Interesting to see Tony and Halim not playing together and defend their MD title. Perhaps they are giving ways to Howard and Bob for a possible clash/rematch of their WC match with Ohtsuka and Masuda in the Final.. XD looks interesting, as the up-and-coming young KOR pair is the top seed. *Good to see lots of local players competing as well. And yes, our master Viper2005 is finally back. Ready to rock and roll in 2 events.. **Hope I still have the energy/not tired/not too jetlagged after my trip back next week to take some pics and record the matches for your video enjoyment..
the draw at tournamentsoftware is not complete. for the complete draw, go here: http://www.internationalbadminton.org/draws.asp
the WS will be interesting. i think Jun Jae Youn and Lee Yun Hwa will have a good chance against the locals and Canadians. technically better and more experienced.
cool .... can you get her number please .... i wouldn't be able to make it .... moving my vacation back .... ABC and BBC aren't open yet ....
Vietnamese badminton star has great chance in American Open 09:34' 27/08/2007 (GMT+7) VietNamNet Bridge - Leading Vietnamese shutter Nguyen Tien Minh has a good draw in the American Badminton Open and a great chance of progressing. In the first two rounds the world number 45 plays opponents ranked far below him. If he beats Sri Lanka’s world number 237 Dinuka Karunaratne in the opening round, he will play the winner of the match between 240th ranked Agusriad Amphie of Indonesia and 62nd ranked Roman Spitko of Germany. He is expected to run into Canadian Richard Vaughan, the world number 30, in the next round, with the winner booking a spot in the last eight. All the players in the world’s top ten are absent, leaving the field open to others. Vietnam has sent three players for the men’s singles, men’s doubles, and men’s team events in the tournament to run from August 28 to September 1. The others are Nguyen Quang Minh and Tran Thanh Hai. In the last two years, the skilful Minh has made great progress, beating several top players like Dane Kenneth Jonassen, South Korean Lee Hyun-il, Thai Boonsak Ponsana, and Indonesian Taufik Hidayat.
I am pretty sure Nguyen Tien Minh will meet T.S. Lee in the Semi... The other half looks more tricky to predict Sat, Tago and Ayob will fight it out.. My bet would go to Ayob.. I am hoping for Tago to get his break though /Twobeer
Most of MAS players withdrew...resulted many Byes..so the tournament is becoming weaker and weaker....expect Big fines for BAM after last minute withdrawal for US open and Indonesia Challenge....only LTS and Ayob in MS, none in WS.....
"He is expected to run into Canadian Richard Vaughan" "Richard Vaughan is NOT Canadian" I agree, he is Welsh
Tien Minh vs Richard Vaughan I'm so sad that I can't be there to watch the game today. This is one of the matches I'd like to watch the most and it is very emotional for me due to the countries they both represent. Whatever the outcome is, I'm sure it's going to be a very good match
