Yup. It's not a sport dominated by men like rugby. It's a sport for all ages, all genders, all races, basicly everybody.
Aside from all the other good reasons posted, - Learning the philosophy and the physics of it. - I love the technical part of it and teaching it to others. - The sport is not dominated by drug abusing athletes. Different body types can play the same game, i.e. no weight classes, or the situation of football, etc. A smaller athlete can compete with are larger one. - It turns into a strategic game of chess at higher levels. - The feeling when you and your partner are in synk, moving together without worry. Or when you can visualize the shot that they make. - Those freak net shots the win a tough rally. Last but not least, - When you are loosing badly, and then the focus light just turns on. Everything turns silent, the birdie slows down for you and start your improbable comeback. At first your opponent isn't worried, but as you get closer it changes, they tighten up making your work easier. Alas you caught up. The game isn't over yet, you may still win or loose, but for that moment you already have felt victory and your opponent defeat...
I love this kinda thread! What I love about badminton: 1. Very good training for pretty much the entire body, 2. Nice to hear the 'crack' sound of a smash, 3. Wide range of moves such as smash, drop, etc, 4. Makes an after-game refreshment so heavenly.
I love the fact that time flies when you play badminton. Everytime I play, I completely lose track of what time it is or how much time has passed. Once, when I was playing badminton with some cousins, we started playing around 3:00pm and by the time we were done it was like 9:30pm. We were exhausted, but it only felt like it had been around 3 hours.
