Score upsets! Yahhh!! See even with this kind of draw, upsets do happen! I cannot believe Lauren Todt lost her singles match:crying:! Whose the girl who beat her? I don't know if she's played in GG before. And I'm REALLY upset :crying:that Mike Yang and Chris Hales lost their match to Jinadasa as well! Poor Mike must be sooo tired from months of preparation and Chris with his sore back problem... Oh.. poor. But I hear they are playing their consolation now so I hope they will win that one! Sally
Thanks kwun (here and those great pictures). Anyone has the result of the Howard vs. Arnold match which supposed to have played this morning. That is a good one. Game result plus any commentary (if any) would be great appreciated.
All that fuss for nothing. Some people are just being silly Too bad to see Ms Lauren lost :crying:. I hope she wasn't on BC reading about people complaining about her draw and had that troubled her But look at it from the brighter side, I hope this mean US badminton is getting stronger with more good young players
just got back from watching, ill briefly recount some of the matches i saw: MS: howard bach beat arnold setiadi pretty badly (straight sets, both around 21-10) nick jinadasa beat chris hale (they split, but i dont remember the scores) raju rai won fairly comfortably (straight sets, the scores were close, but i dont think raju was really exerting himself) and Bob Malaythong won, but i didnt really watch that game MD: howard/bob owned pretty hard... chandra/daniel had a very close win over howard/raju (extremely exciting/tense) chandra/daniel lost the first set but won the second two sets win very close scores MX: didn't see a lot, except that arnold/daphne lost their match
Results! I don't know how to get those boxes of quotes from other comments then write under them! I hope this finally exemplifies that draws do not conduct results. It's the players and how they play that do, as well as how they tackle their opponents. If draws are tougher, then it could be more challenging, what do you guys think? Haven't we seen this happen at several major competitions most notably Lin Dan at the last Olympics? As the favorite for Gold Medalist, he did lose in the first round, but that didn't mean he wasn't a superb athelete. Ms. Lauren is a consummate professional. I've chatted with her a few times at her competes in GG and no matter win or lose, she always tries her best and has a great attitude. She loves to eat and chat about fashion just like us normal "D" players! It's great to see how each tournament is important to them and they all give their best to WIN! Sally
Mixed Doubles Daniel trains so hard and diligently with Chandra at GGBC any chance he gets. He's really got the fire in him going! Good going for Dan and Yeh! Does he have to play against Chandra and Mona now? Sally
MD: howard/bob owned pretty hard... chandra/daniel had a very close win over howard/raju (extremely exciting/tense) chandra/daniel lost the first set but won the second two sets win very close scores Congrats to all the winners so far!! Oooo.. wish I was there!!! How exciting that Chandra and Daniel WON over Howard and Raju! They try SO hard. But how can Howard and Bob play, then Howard and Raju play Men's Doubles? I wonder if anyone video taped that game!! I will ask our staff! Sally
Oops! OHHHH... mee quite silly! Ha haa.. GG Home Tourney and I have no idea who's who.. Awful . Thank you Rain! Still VERY TOUGH opponents right? ohhh.. they will really have to REST UP if they end up playing against Howard Bach and Bob then. Goodness! Sally
I appreciate what Kwun did for us updating the scores, taking pictures, yesterday, etc... but, he is also exhausted, ...and.....with just a click of a button, the updates could have been uploaded if tournament software is used... and everyone in the world would have known the results instantly... Perhaps GG Management could please consider it next tournament at GGBC... Thank you for reading my post.
Our apologies again and hope to obtain your understanding. You know, we do care so much and everyone knows that you are recommending tournament software, and it's benefits, but please do understand, we must also respect what methods our Tournament Director Chris Lawrence, whom has so many years of experience conducting National events, decides to use. We cannot, and would not, disrespect his authority over this subject. I really recommend that you write to the USAB and maybe to Chris himself regarding your recommendation. GGBC invited Chris to be tournament director. We wouldn't be able to just read a manual and know how to conjure up a draw, so it's really not up to us and Mike always respects the decision of the people he chooses to work with. As frustrated as you are, I do hope you can understand, how much work there is to do, including the banquet last night which 150 people attended until 10:30pm, and then clean up till 12am. We also don't have enough staff on hand for just one person to look after posting draws. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Now they are too busy with the finals cos there are people mountain, people sea there today to watch! Sally
Too blurry Sorry Born.. I got 3 folders full of draws which our own staff took 3 or 4 times to try to get it, but I tried ask my assistant if she can zoom it to place online but when I zoomed close up it was SOOO BLURRY so it's impossible. That was the best our digi cameras and ablities could do. We need to wait for Kwun's expert photo lenses. Please be patient! Thank you! Sally
