And then having babies with a waitress but denied it later....? So many bad rumors.

His case might be at scandal level everywhere else, except in INA maybe. lol.

I agree with many things you wrote d65up2... ;) except the part about Lius Pongoh. He is the best guy for the job he is doing. I see nobody else in the horizon who can do that particular job [Kepala Binpres PBSI] better than him. Yes he did have 'personal' mental issues... but his heart is in the right place and he has a good sense of fairness and right & wrong.

Maria and Firda have been around long... and INA have no other brilliant stars that can replace them at this time. It is only fair to replace them as INA #1 and #2 if we have better players that can beat them. Right now. None! Not even Pia. :p

Don't worry about Pia... she was always given the chance to compete in the past and she will continue to get a lot of support from PBSI. If she improved significantly, then she will have the right to replace Maria and Firda as INA #1 or #2. So far... not yet. Same analysis goes to Nana [Fransisca Ratnasari]... ;)

Outside these four... there are Aprillia and Belleatrix in Pelatnas ...Maria Elfira, Maria Febe, Sylvinna Kurniawan, and Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasari in PB. Djarum. So... I just mentioned the top 10 women competitors in INA today... for the latest ranking, visit www.pb-pbsi.net Frankly, Maria and Firda are still the top 2 in every aspect. They are the rightful INA #1 and #2. It won't be fair to let them go right now.

I highly doubt it. USA Open and NZ Open are played exactly on the same dates as INA's PON [National Sports Week]... Those who have to compete for the Olympics [like Maria Kristin] are not allowed by PBSI to compete in PON... [disrupting their preparation, PBSI said]. Those who are not going to the Olympics [like Firda, Fira, Febe, Nana, Pia, Aprillia, Sylvi, etc.] will all play in PON... :p They all have accepted money from their respective provinces to perform. PON is the time they have to honor their deal.

A lot of INA's players (Pelatnas or Djarum) are free during PON's time,

    Bellaetrix Manuputty
    Rosaria Pungkasari

    Andi Nugroho
    Yoga Pratama
    Nandang Arief
    Adi Pratama
    Engga Setiawan

    Dyonisius Hayom Rumbaka
    Wisnu H.P.
    Hendri Aprilianto
Bandar or Ari Yuli (one of them won't play in PON)

    Samantha/Khesyia
    Anisa/Nimas Rani
    Debby Susanto/Komala Dewi
    Luluk/Jenna

    Wifqi/Afiat
Fernando/Lingga (not sure about Lingga will play for Central Java)
    Syarif/Chrisna
    Subakti/Hendra M.

PBSI should consider start to send young players for re-generation

i think it's clear from the TC that INA can no longer rely on TH.
his performances have been poor by his standards for several months now, unless he improves dramatically, i doubt he'll be able to challenge for the OG gold.
SDK has been dissapointing as well, maybe it was the high expectations/pressure of playing MS1 in front of his home crowd.
yup, time for the next generation to take over!

I predict they won't play in PON represent their province exception they play for other province (not Jakarta or Central Java).
Every province are limited maximum only 8 men and 5 women to play in PON.

The problem with the US Open for us is the balance between real-cost vs. expected-benefit... The ticket price-tags to go there nowadays are expensive [the fuel cost alone has more than tripled]...

It could be more worth-it if the US Open GP Gold [not just a GP level] is followed by a Canadian Open GP... [not just an International Challenge level tournament]... then... a lot of ASEAN countries will participate... ;)

Agree, US open should upgrade its level to GP Gold for more Asian players participation. US Open will be followed by Canada Open for next year (July 2009) event based on BWF calendar but the tournament level is still GP not GP Gold which total prize money only provides US$50,000.

US$50,000 is not as expensive as a few years ago for Canadians. The Canadian $ is far stronger today due to various factors. ;) I appeal to whoever is running Canadian Badminton to upgrade their tournament one level up and improve the competition quality in North America... :p [easy for me to say, I know...]

    Interview with Fernando Kurniawan
    [IMG]

What do you think about the practice here?
It is very nice and fun.

How would you cope with the boredom emerge from non stop practice session?
By doing other things outside the court and playing around with my buddies.

How important is the involvement of other players and the officials with a player?
It is very important. Thanks to my coach, I am able to gain a lot of achievements. My teammates also played an important role in my success because their support boasts my morale. The officials are also vital in my career as they support me financially and motivate me to achieve anything that I could.

What do you think about winning or losing a match?
In my opinion, victory and defeat are common things in an athlete's life. We must evaluate each match in order to prevent the same mistakes from happening again in the next match.

In your opinion, what are the requirements of a champion?
Train harder and diligently, follow the coach's programs without complaining, and practice on your own after the training session or during free time.

Do you have any special tips to improve mental condition before an important match?
Concentrate and focus. Keep your calm even if the match was unfavorable for you. Communicate with your partner to find a way to handle the situation.

What do you feel when becoming a champion?
I was very happy and proud. It was indescribable.

What would you do on your free time as an athlete?
Talking with my friends, playing video games, reading books, etc. My hobbies are playing basket ball, swimming and hanging out with my friends and family.

As an athlete, what is your unfulfilled goal?
Becoming a world champion and win the Olympic.

Do you have any words of wisdom for the younger athlete?
Hopefully they get the attention they deserve and more chance to show their capability.
