RTM 1 of Malaysia will cover the event for 6 hrs daily meanwhile RTM2 will cover 4hrs daily of the Olympic events proper.
Astro will have special channel for Olympics.

The BBC will be broadcasting in the UK on the digital channels as usual. The coverage is usual pretty extensive.

UK players and the finals are usual on the Main channels as well.

INA TV may miss Beijing Olympics!

It seems INA peoples could not enjoy LIVE telecast of the biggest sport event in this year, Beijing Olympic Games because there's not any INA TV station yet which want to buy OG broadcasting rights until now. This similar case also happened four years ago in Athens.

Local TV Station Executives consider US$1,5m (IDR.13,8 billion) as broadcasting rights price tag that offered by ABU (Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union) is too expensive. Irwan Hendarmin, Production Affair General Manager of Global TV (one INA national private TV) said the multisport event like Olympic Games has less interest to get sponsorship/advertisers.

--taken from Koran TEMPO print edition (02 July, 2008)--

What a disappointing news for INA viewers...

Finally, a great news for INA viewers!

Yup, TVRI takes OG the broadcast rights in last minutes! And here's the news article :

Indonesian State TV to Air Beijing Olympics Live, Free 2008-07-15 14:01:35 Xinhua

After missing live coverage of badminton player Taufik Hidayat's gold medal winning feat at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Indonesians will be able to watch the Beijing Olympics next month live and free, as state-owned TV of the Republic of Indonesia (TVRI) acquired the broadcast rights.

"We will air the Games," the Jakarta Post Daily Tuesday quoted TVRI spokesperson Meggy Theresia Rares as saying.

This is good news for Indonesian sports fans, she said.

"On Tuesday we will sign a memorandum of understanding with the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU)," Meggy said on Monday, referring to the organization in charge of the Games broadcast in 28 Asian countries and regions.

She declined to say how much TVRI had paid for the rights or to provide any other details, promising more information would be forthcoming after the agreement is signed.
