If that happens, it will be proclaimed a National Disaster for China - LYB will be shipped to Siberia to teach. :)

No badminton gold for CHN squad at OG first debut in Barcelona 1992 when INA and KOR won 2 golds each. Beijing Games this time, looks like slim chance that CHN will repeat total failure again.

    Yeah..
First of all, I'm pretty sure that's not the way to calculate probability. Even if it were, 5x100 does not equal 600 >.> The way you're doing it, China has over a 50% chance for zero golds. wut.

This smells like another poll coming.

Probability of CHina winning 0 gold : NONE, WD should get one
Probability of China winning all 5 gold : less than 10%

that's not how you calculate probability...

    That's right.

    It should be 65% x 75% x 90% x 15% x 50%

WS - 75%? Are you sure?

    How you calculate probabilities

    .
:D:D:D limsy ... You have come up with some interesting percentages.:confused::confused:

jslucn and Qidong are correct.... Given your percentages: the correct probability of China not winning any GOLD is 65%x75%x90%x15%x50% = 3.29%. And, the probability of China winning at least one GOLD is 100%-3.29% = 96.71%.

    :):):)

In order of the chances they don't take golds in each discipline I would say is:

    MD
    XD
    MS
    WS
    WD

Ie MD the least chance to win, WD the highest chance. The chances of all disciplines are indeed low but even WD has been fallible this year and the WS has been pretty poor, both of which were virtual gimme's in previous years.

MS has always been pretty open, Likewise XD. MD they have never really been favourites.

LYB would be paid very handsomely by the russians to upstart their badminton domination in asia. If only MAL is that lucky to have LYB to help out their failing badminton outlook. Of course MAL can never outbid the russian for LYB. The russians are rolling in dough with their oil wealth while MAL is crying over about their petrol prices.

nah. if that ever happens, he would be to be taught/re-educated than to teach. ;)

all the above calculation are wrong, especially limsy.
if limsy's odds are correct, the chance of china not winning any gold is 99.628%. That is a MAL boleh odd. This boleh spirit is very powerful indeed, it can possess a human mind.
