the mats are Yonex for sure. i know from some channel that Yonex was busy manufacturing the mats for the Olympics earlier in the year.

i would be surprised if Yonex Tournament/AS50 shuttlecocks are not used as that seems to be the standard these days for most international tournaments. it would be suicide to change shuttle on the players.

that's one tournament out of dozens which uses Wilson, most of the rest uses Yonex.

    and your point is? ;)

Maybe he's trying to say that there is a chance that it might not be yonex shuttles used for the Olympics:confused:

I Doubt That They Will use Anything Else Though..

Or the point was simply a response to that :p. (AE and Swiss Open are always back to back)

Can't imagine it being anything other either simply because of sponsorship.

but it would have been a great advertisement for an other brand if they wohld have taken them, wouldn´t it?

i think that other brands produce shuttles which are as good as the AS50 (wilson, RLS, ...)

But the organizers want what is considered the best. Yonex is considered the best.

i'm assuming by image, when you think of badminton you think of yonex, when you think of wilson you think of wilson soccer adidas hockey bauer etc.

    That wouldn't be entirely true.

For instance, when I think of badminton, I think of Badminton Central, Miyuki Maeda, cab fares, and my next scheduled game session.

To use another example, when our member george thinks of badminton, he thinks of Lee Chong Wei, Lee Chong Wei and Lee Chong Wei :p

Yonex has a huge marketing arm that thrives on big sporting events.
To not be on the Olympic stage would be foolish from a marketing POV.
They simply must be out there ;)

Given the epic scale of the opening ceremony, China is unlikely to settle for anything less than the best available for its equipment needs

I wouldn't be surprised if they have, for starters, some kind of new mops!

    1) Wilson does not have the mat for tournment. If they want the mat, they have to go with evile empire or hardwood floor.
    2) If they want the mat, the evil empire will ask them to use their shuttle exclusively.
    3) Same thing for the net.
    4) Wilson has Topline100 that is close to AS50. However, the evil empire has trick under it's sleve. Special shuttle for the OC and All England and Uber Cup. For those, look but don't touch.
