17th Incheon AG 2014 : Day-9 (28th September) - MS, XD Semifinals & WS, MD Finals

Strange, Lee Yongdae the super MD player just cannot win at the majors, same fate as Lee CW except that LYD doesn't have a particular nemesis, simply no affinity with the big titles.

Hendra Setiawan proves once again to be the best in major/multi-sport event, Beijing OG 2008, Guangzhou AG 2010 and Incheon AG 2014 with different partner. INA pair eliminated nervousness and delivered all out to beat their nemesis Lee YD/Yoo YS at their homeground, perfect! MD final is the most thrilling final match in individual event so far.

XD semifinals had contrast fashion when ZZ fought hard to overcome thunderous INA #2 pair while Ahmad/Natsir applied brilliant tactic to outclass Xu/Ma and finished the match in short duration.

MS, Lin Dan v Lee CW, only game 1 presented tight contest, let alone game 2 which LD produced many uncharacteristic errors at the net and decider when Lee CW was already fatigue and couldn't balance LD aggressive style. The other semifinal obviously was lopsided match, Chen Long overwhelmingly controlled whole match.

WS, Wang YH redeemed her 2012 London OG losing to her younger compatriot. At game 2, when Li XR scored 6-1 then Wang YH slowly closed the gap even lead at interval, this was the turning point for Yihan triumphant.

By all respect, you don't have to say that kind of words, friend. :) Every players have their own style, and everyone can enjoy their favorite but not disgracing other. I am sorry if your favorite can't win today. I think LYD/YYS play okay like usual, only at 16 all the errors creeping and it affects all the rhythm. It is indeed heartbreaking loss after they also only get 2nd place at WC. They'll bounce back I believe.

I just say I don´t really enjoy their style... As well as I didn´t enjoy Boe/Mogensen before.
It is not disrespect. I play myself (well not professional, but advanced) and I really know how good they are. And I abolutly admit they are the best in serve, return, third shot (lee/yoo coming very close). They also attack good and fast. It is part of the game. They have specialised in these departments. They deserved this title and every other title they won.

BUT I want to see spectacular, entertaining rallies in MD. Attack, defense, counterattack, some dives :D That´s what Badminton is for me.
And we rarely see many of these rallies when pairs like Ahsan/Setiawan or BoMo are playing. Just compare the playing time of the matches...

Hahaha so happy to see Ahsan/hendra beat the highly overrated and chokefull Lyd when it matters again...
And beat the Koreans at their home ground takes a lot more than usual due to it usually being more than 2v2 ;)

Amazing win!

Indonesia suporters are louder than others. they can cheer as loud as the home crowd in almost any country.

so it's still 2 vs 2

Well, I just expressed my feeling about your previous comment. It's okay then, I got your point. I also noticed how short Ahsan/Setiawan rally compare to some players. When others still use smash and net game to set up the rally, these two use almost every shots as their deadly weapon. I think it's part of the game nowadays. You can say that to tennis when Cilic beat Federer and won US Open 2014, how can you say that 'raw game power' is tennis? But it is the game now. So yeah, I'll watch what I can watch. ;)

After lost terribly againts Towi-Natsir, Xu Chen and Ma Jin got some "Hair dryer" treatment in public from head coach LYB

This is great!

Several months ago, LYD/YYS beat MA/HS in Indonesia Open this year before Jakarta's wild crowd.

Now MA/HS beat LYS/YYS in Asian Games (a multi-sport event, second to Olympic, which is held every four years) before the Incheon's spectators.

This revenge feels sweet!

Ahsan/Setiawan may have lost to Lee/Yoo more often than not but today they won the one that matters a lot. Tomorrow it's an even more important match to win facing Kim/Kim.

? Ahsan/Setiawan has defeated Kim/Kim in semifinal and they just did the same to Lee/Yoo in today's final.

Yes you are right... YYS/LYD are Super Series regular. Their entrance to the circuit was so recent and already won SS back-to-back three times and more. They have become a regular in the final but they can't win the big one.

I have to check if there is a recording of today's match. This revenge is sweet.
