Songphon Anugritayawon/Kunchala Voravichitchaikul won their biggest title so far and have replaced the veteran pair Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam as THA no 1 XD pair at the moment.

Meanwhile Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan won their first Japan Open SS title after beating their compatriot in straight-sets. Remaining SS titles left for Kido/Hendra to win: Korea SS -- traditionally, INA pairs do not do well in the cold-wintry condition. All England -- AE has been very elusive for the INA pair and this should be the INA pair's main priority (besides the Asian Games Individual Gold & Thomas Cup) next year. Swiss & Singapore SS -- close shave in both tourneys in the past 2 tourneys, with runner-up medals. I was especially gutted by the loss in the Singapore SS Final this year Indonesia SS -- they won the Indonesia Open in 2005, before the tourney became a SS event 2 years later. The INA pair has won the other 6 SS tourneys held in the second half of the year.
I think Dutch Open is GP level not GP Gold tournament. The monkey emoticon is so funny Congratz to all winners! Match of the final day is absolutely XD discipline when Thai pair stuns promising Danish pair Fischer Nielsen/Pedersen, a thrilling game at decider.
We can't called BCL "Mr Runner Up" anymore. From 2001-2008, he marched into 17 finals and only win 2 titles. (correct me if I am wrong) But for 2009, its like a new BCL. He play 4 finals (German, ABC, Singapore SS and Japan SS) and he win 4 titles. Very impressive indeed. And I am suprise with the Thais win the XD. Are they stepping up or their opponents in SF and final, The Indonesians and The Danes just lost their steam after crushing top ranking pairs? I will watch closely Song Phon/Kunchala for next few events. No suprises what so ever from WS,MD and WD. Very nice win for Markis K/Hendra S for 2009 after all the problem and injuries. Wang Xin must be deadly tired after playing 13 matches (including 4 qualifying matches) in 2 weeks. (China and Japan Open) She knocked out Tine R twice, Wang Lin, PHY and Maria K in these 2 weeks.
As far as I can recall, Bao CL won at least 3 super series (or 5 stars - highest) tournaments during 2001 through 2008, which includes not limited to: 2001 Denmark Open, BCL defeated Lin Dan in the final 2006 Korean Open, BCL won this one because this year Korean open provided the highest prize among all tournaments that year. 2007 China Super Series, BCL definitely won this one because it's not too long ago. Some friends argued that China team can only grab titles using their crowd strategy. And they pointed out many times, China took all 4 semi positions by sending more players to the tournaments. Actually, I checked database, China usually sent less players than other countries like Malaysia. They took all semifinalists sometimes by just send 4 players, but those 4 players were the best 4 in the world. People complained that Lin Dan can only win by escorting. But the reason behind that was China team can provide invincible escorting services. For Bao CL, he won 4 titles this year, and also lost some in early rounds this year. After Japan open, he said that he's lucky this time at Japan open, because few Chinese players there. He had been unfortunately met Chinese players in the other tournaments. And he said it's easy to play non Chinese players, but extremely difficult to play Chinese players. This year, he won all his 4 titles when majority of China men's singles, especially Lin Dan, Chen Jin were rest at home. When China sent a full team, including Lin Dan and Chen Jin, like in the all England, Swiss, Indonesia, China master,... He lost to either Lin Dan or Chen Jin. He lost at WC also partially because of Lin Dan in the 2nd round. On the other hand, now Taufik is much stable than several years ago, but he he had problem to grab the title. He has lost at least 4 consecutive titles in a row in the final. Actually, Taufik is now the expert on runner up.
Bao lost to Dicky in WC in first round, not Lin Dan. Bao did not atend INA Open this year... meeting teammates is always difficukt, not only for BAO, as they know each other agme so well....
if it's difficult for Bao, then it's easy for Lin Dan. This is 0 sum, you cannot say something difficult for both of them.
if measured absolutely, it's only difficult if your teammates are good. For Iranian players, they could face a China player or another Iranian player, can you say that "meeting teammates (another Iranian) is always difficult" ? if measured relatively, even between teammates, one feels difficult, the other should feel easy. Otherwise, why you guys always complain Lin Dan easily won by just defeating his teammates all the way to the title?
