SS Masters Finals was planned by BWF to showcase the best Badminton players

    .
    * BWF must make SS final a 'must attend event'

From what I see, the SS Masters Finals was planned by BWF to showcase our best Badminton players. And also to reward our best players.

Unfortunately, currently most Badminton players are subjects of their National Associations. Our players cannot choose what they wish to do.

Perhaps, it is better for BWF to plan to showcase the best Badminton nations/teams. But we already have them; the Thomas Cup, the Uber Cup and the Sudirman Cup.

Wow I just checked out the new version of the SS Finals participants. The WS and WD categorieshad sunk so low indeed.

    Unbelievable.

So many players and pairs withdraws.

MS , MD and XD still very strong.

WS and WD had sunk like the Titanic indeed. Not only China and Indonesia players declined to play here. Also the Japanese and the Koreans. OMG!!

Lets see the replacement in details:

WS: (After PHY, Lu Lan , Kim Moon Hi and Judith M withdraws)

Porntip B : Play 9 SS. Seven times lost in first round and 2 times in second round.

Charmaine Reid : BReak the records of all time. How on earth a player who NEVER win in any first round of SS ranked number 27 in SS rankings?

Because she play 10 SS events. Yes. 10 SS events and all lost in first round.

Wong Mew Choo : Only play 6 SS events. 4 times lost in first round. 1 time in second round. 1 time is a QF.

From the above 3 , WMC is the most decent player to been a replacement. And she should ranked higher than the other two although she only play 6 SS events.

But thanks to the "UNFAIR" BWF ranking points , she ranked lower than players who never been in SS quarter finals.

For WD : (After the two Korean pairs withdraws)

    The replacements:

Chou/Chia (Taipei) : Play 6 SS events. 1 QF. 3 second round. and 2 first round lost. Not that bad. They performed better than some pair above them.

Laura/Wenny (France) : Play 6 SS events. 4 times second round and 2 times first round lost. Just not good in top 8 at all.

Maybe BWF should just cut out WS and WD categories this year. The lines up just terrible for "The BEST EIGHT"

Maybe BWF can make better scheduling even if they did not want to cut out any events.

Look at 2009 scheduling as example:

March, April and May only had one event each month. But June had 4 events in a month. What??

BWF can put India open and Asia Badminton Championship in March. Then China or / and Hong KOng SS from Nov to April. Sudirman Cup in May.

Then NOvember should only have one or none SS events. Then they can put SS Master Finals in Nov intead of Dec.

Or they can just put two different events in same week like tennis. Like US Open and Thailand Open can play at the same time.

German Open and Dutch Open can also play at the same time as warm up before All England.

For LCW, this is a dream comes through that LD and CJ are not in, chances improve bigtime winning 2nd SSF especially playing at own 'kampung' (village)...imagine hitting birdies for 5 days and winning the SSF USD$40K cheque worth approx. 2 yrs wage for an engineer in MAS and in time for X'mas shopping for gifts for stewardess GF and chinese new year...life's good..thanks LYB, LD and all the comrades:p:D

LL out...SSF becomes the 'tourney of the defeated'...Saina chances looks good...now, what if WMC wins, this gal plays hard and hurt, win nothing in SS....what a dandy for WMC to get the USD$40K prize... but I gonna cheer for Charmaine instead....now, what is Charmaine really wins the biggest prize in SS...that is indeed April 1st, a big joke...LL you are so kind....LOL

    http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=226 (for this yr's edition).
..just consider their absence as a Christmas present from LYB, LD, LL and the entire Chinese national squad..

As for all these last minute withdrawals, i just thought, perhaps if BWF can't confirm or secure all of the "top 8 players/pairs" to compete, they might as well cancel this entire event. At the end, instead of getting a well received and well attended event by all the top 8 players/pairs, as what BWF envisioned, all we/they get is an event akin to a yr end players get-together exhibition.

Especially for WS and WD, provides a opportunity for those to earn so serious $$$ and who otherwise has no chance of winning SS anyway....yeah, some kind of year end weak players get-together exhibition with expensive entry tickets (if the same as last year price).

The SS Masters Finals events are for SS players ranked under the SS ranking points

    .
We need to remember the SS Masters Finals events are for SS players ranked under the SS ranking points.

    Let's look at Charmaine Reid ....... World Ranking = 55, SS Ranking = 27
Then, look at Anna Rice .............. World Ranking = 41, SS Ranking = 77

..that's only if one wins or becomes the runner-up. If one is just a group finisher, guess what, one will only get at most $4,250 (Singles) and $2,500 (Doubles) in cheque.
..yes, a bit surprised BCL hasn't withdrawn. I guess our OTB doesn't consider BCL as a threat to LCW winning that big paycheque..;)

Chinese team just wants to keep BWF off their back, by sending a few playeres there.

With no CHN WS/WD, much easier to contest, now who volunteer to face CHN WS/WD?...with CHN in both, no chance lah and bridesmaids as usual....group finisher gets $4250/$2500, heck, winning 3rd round in SS pays less, cannot even buy ticket to fly home:D....on paper and playing at home, LCW must be the favorite, no guarantee he won't lose, pretty Bao is good but he is ain't no LD, the single player that on paper and in real life is above our Dato and would be favorite to win if he plays. Now, does Dato wanna play LD, heck if I am LCW, I tell LD stay home and we can work out a deal:p:D
