whatever the reason in detail is, finally it's a shame for the organizers that they are simply not able to organize these simple things well. Considering the effort, the jetlag he's in, - whatever - guess Taufik's already disappointed with his decision to go to North America. Good work by US authorities to stop badminton in the states and keep it up for football and hockey? Don't hope so.
What can supporters do now? stay away from US Open and tell them why, if tickets are bought ask for money back?

Well, I'm not speaking for OCBC. But I'm not sure it's the organizer's responsibility to take care every player's visa issue. Of course the organizers in Malaysia, Indonesia and China should have way more influence than a small badminton club in LA. For jet-lag, a pro like Taufik should get used to it already when they travel from country to country every week. I hope Taufik is not really "disappointed" as you said because a lot of my friends travel to LA next week just to see him. Hope he will come again next week.

I am glad that Badzine reads HERE and published it...I hope BWF and USA Badminton do something ( talk to US Immigration) as next year is Olympic qualification and for sure there will be INA players here to compete..

While it is true that several Badzine writers read this forum, as the newsflash states, the source for the Badzine story is Taufik and his coach Hariawan.

See how easy it is to enter Canada with an INA passport :p:p

BTW we're enjoying Taufik very much up here in Vancouver. Will play in the final tomorrow against Brice Leverdez

It is confirmed that Taufik is not going to US Open. So dont speculate about the Visa approval. What a shame that USA cannot witness Taufik playing in USA this year... maybe next year. Hope maybe last minute Rudy can pull some strings and give some Ed Hardys to some officers to get Taufik into Usa. :)

where is he going to now?

Can anybody confirm that he's on a plane either going to US or back to INA now:confused:
What makes me wonder now is that he's still in the draw:eek: May be some 'last minute changes' in favour of US Badminton fans - would be nice and good for badminton, but I doubt it went this way:confused:

He will stay in Vancouver for part of this week doing exhibition matches.

REPEAT: Taufik will not be playing in the US Open.

As reported in badzine, last minute arrangement was made to solve the visa problem for Taufik, but the coach salready said that Taufik won't come to Los Angeles...no wonder they make this decision ...

Taufik won't come because he didn't get the Visa. Period.
There is no special arrangement being made by anybody to solve the visa problem until today.
USA-Badminton/OCBC has not announced it because they don't want people to change their mind and not coming to US Open.
I'm as pissed off as you guys are about this, I want Taufik to play in the US Open. I have invited my friends from out of state to watch Taufik this week, but now they have change their minds....

Simon Maunoury should be sooo happy to play the Swiss guy instead of Taufik, who became our black horse, beating the two other Frenchman, Brice Leverdez (final stage) and Matthieu Lo Ying Ping....
