2011 China Open SSP: Round 1 Wed 23-Nov

.
We are almost finishing for Round 1. Managed to catch up reading all posts. Some interesting comments from our BCers. :D:D:D

It's already 12:15am in Shanghai now, and this last match (Fu Mingtian-vs-Sayaka Sato) is still going on after 45 minutes. Looks like Fu Mingtian can win this match.
.

Well done, Fu,it showed what a fighter you are for this titanic struggle, esp from 13-19 down you fought all the way to 20-deuce before losing it - must have given Sayaka a fright.

Looks like the Badminton federation have given birth to yet another Danish brat in Victor Axelson who was yellow-carded today for misconduct. He has trailing far behind Qiao Bin in the 2nd set when he was given the warning for his lack of respect and loose behavior on court. The reason why he needs to act so spoilt and sore when he is losing is beyond me. We know he is still young but shouldn't that make him more respectful of others? This reminded me of the incident in the match between Lin Dan and Chen Jin in the French Open where the European fans were booing the 2 Chinese. Why are the European fans booing and showing such disrespect? Is it because they don't understand the Chinese philosophy of "nation first, individual second"? For Victor's case, I think the media or the badminton community must have hyped him up so much to be the next greatest European player that it must have gotten to his head. Therefore, when things doesn't go his way, he ended up throwing his tantrums and lost to an unknown Chinese in the 1st round.

.
True... This is why I like to boo at players who are not playing sports for sports' sake, and/or are behaving badly at matches. We need to remind players that we don't wish to watch misconduct, match-fixing, etc, etc ...

I did not watch the match. What did Viktor Axelsen do to be yellow-carded?

Correction: It happened not in Round 1, but at the Qualification Rounds.

By mistake ended up downloading this particular match instead of an XD match for PAW purposes. And you know what he got a yellow card for? For allegedly crushing the shuttle he asked to get changed ... there was no temper tantrum of any kind at all, no hissy fits. He calmly picked it up after sending a smash return into the net and showed it to the overzealous ref who perhaps thought he tried to temper with the shuttle and got a yellow card for "misconduct" and was ordered to change the shuttle he asked to get changed in the first place. What a tool ...

I thought our good friend tsae75 had seen or heard about "an incident"/outburst which in the past wouldn't have surprised anyone who has known of him for a longer time but turns out it was MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

:D:D:D That umpire must have been strict on any player tempering with the shuttlecock.
