Chen Long (S3) has the luck of the draw by being gifted a walkover by JOJ.
He thus reaches the SF very fresh just as was the case in the Japan Open.
    MK/HS (S7) upset the form book by defeating KSH/YYS (S4) 15-21, 22-20, 21-19.
S Sasaki had to work hard to beat WWK, LD’s conqueror, 15-21, 21-15, 21-7 in 56 minutes.
It is hoped that SS gives a good account of himself against CL in the SF match.
SS’s drawback is that he will be less fresh than CL due to the aforesaid walkover.

Alas, we are getting a Lee Chong Wei - Peter Gade Semifinal match today. It will be an uphill battle, especially now that Gade has such high confidence in LCW (which could mean lack of confidence in himself against LCW) to conquer all, including the recent World Championships.

Hopefully Peter can fight back with his finest especially with the backing cheers of his own countrymen. This I would not want to miss :D

With home ground support, I am sure Peter Gade will put on his best effort. :):):)

We may not necessarily see another W/O from the WS in the semis, even if WYH wins her match against Inthanon, IMO. Here is why...

The 2 CHN players in the second semi-final are already ranked 1 and 3 in the SS rankings (WYH is currently 2) and are ranked 2 and 3 in the overall BWF rankings (WYH is ranked 1.) So all the CHN players involved are already occupying the top 3 places. SS rankings are as of September 29. Overall rankings are as of October 20.

If at all, we may find WSX giving a W/O to teammate WX, as this will allow WX to boost her SS points margin against Juliane Schenk, who is less than 3,000 points behind. But even that is unnecessary, because in the extreme event that JS overtakes WX in the SS rankings, WX would still be in the top 4, and CHN would still be assured of 3 places in the OG...

I was listening to the commentators (Danish players? retired Danish players?) during the live-streaming of PG's match against Wang Zhengming. They were pretty matter-of-fact about his chances against LCW, and said that the most they hope for him is to make it to the semis. :(

But then again, as they say, tomorrow is a brand new day! :D

I'm glad that Kido/Hendra won yesterday, they used all their trick and experience add that luck seems on their side...

it will be same case today as they face old rival JJS/LYD, expect epic classic battle as usual

In other semi it'll be also interesting to see in form Cai/Fu vs home crowd fav Boe/Mogensen

Look at it this way. CL was in a win-win situation. JOJ beat DPY but has to concede a walkover to CL in the QF due to health reasons. If DPY had beaten JOJ, he would have given CL a free pass to the SF anyway. All CL had to do was keep his end of the deal, which was to beat SS. Ah, such luxury.

I'm rooting for Inthanon to give WYH a huge scare; maybe more than just a scare! :D

BoMo as well, are overdue for a win at the top level.

I'd like to give the Sho-man a vote, but it seems unlikely, as CL is really playing some fantastic badminton of late.

WD is kinda spoken for, either way! :D

XD: LYD/HJE have an outside chance here. But they first have to conquer Xu/Ma (both of who are playing really well just now) before they get to challenge ZN/ZYL; so it's a steep uphill climb for LYD/HJE. All depends on HJE...

Agree. But it s more than just ranking points. Imagine you miss out on US$10000 because CHN cheats again. How come the organizers don t learn. Schedule all CHN matches before different country matches. Is that so difficult to understand.

    My calls:

    MS:
    - LCW over PG. PG will be keen to put up a good show. Will be tight
    - CL over Sasaki. Cl is fresher, Sasaki has been put through the wringer. CL is the form player, Sasaki only troubles LD :p

    WS:
    - WYH over Rat. As much as I would love Rat to cause an upset, you gotta see who she's up against. Will be a highly charged encounter.
    - WX over WSX. If only to muzzle the shrieky one :p. Seriously, I prefer WX's creative style.

    MD:
JJS/LYD over Markis/Hendra. If the QF is anything to go by, the INA pair faces an uphill task
FHF/CY over BoMo. The home crowd will win a few points for BoMo, but not enough. Fu/Cai are sizzling

    WD:
    TQ/ZYL over LK/MR. No contest
WXL/YY over HJE/KMJ. Even more no contest (is that even English? :p)

    XD:
JFN/CP over ZN/ZYL. A razor thin edge to the Danes I think.
XC/MY over LYD/HJE. They will pick on HJE and make mincemeat of her.

JJS/LYD s not as sharp as before. MK/HS should have a chance since they are so unpredictable nowadays.
