The Indian contingent lost a lot of their people in the round 16, yesterday. But their main contenders are still alive. In the MS, Ajay Jayaram leads the seedings, and is up against local hero and 5th seed Eric Pang. Also in MS, Arvind Bhat is up against TienChen Chou of Taiwan; both are very close in ranking, so it could be a very hard-fought game. Or not! If both Ajay and Arvind win their respective matches, they will end up playing one another in the semis! In the WS, P V Sindhu is up against 45-ranked Jeanine Cicognini of Switzerland, but as we know by now, the opponent's higher ranking means nothing to Sindhu! In the MD, Pranav/Akshay are up against 4th seeds and Dutch pair Ruud/Koen. Is this the end of the line for the Indian pair? In the WD, Pradnya/Prajakta are up against Thai pair and top seeds, Duanganong/Kunchala. End of the road here too?

Interesting scoreline here for this MD: Russian going into the break 11-8, up to 13-8. Then 8 straight by the Danes to lead 16-13. One back for the Russians followed by another 4 for the Danes to go up 20-14. Last ditch fightback to 20-19 but in vain as the Danes takes the first 21-19. Interesting note on the side: Sozonov now playing with Yonex, used to be Babolat (both with VT80 ).
. The other XD Quarter-Finals match just completed is the; Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam (THA) [1]-vs- Mikkel Delbo Larsen/Lena Grebak (DEN) SP/ST won without problems; 21-14, 21-17 in 31 minutes. .
Thanks Chris, for the updates!!! Sindhu either took some time waking up in the first game, or she was stumped by Jeanine's game! Either way, she got herself out of trouble, by the looks of it. ...Wish we could have someone record these matches and upload!!!
**Slap! Slap!** Hey! Wake up!!! Karina of Denmark took the first game 21-14 from Kristina of the Czech Republic!
Eventually, the Danes took the match in the rubber, again 21-19, giving away the second game 18-21 to the Russians...
....and Tien Chen Chou of Taiwan prevalied over Arvind Bhat of India in 3 games. So it was a hard-fought match in the end, but it appears from the scoreline that Bhat ran out of gas...
