In the tournament, it is the end result that count not the luck ! If you talk about the luck, then we can said LCW should won the worldchampionship against Lin Dan earlier ! CL lost the 1st game is not because LCW has the luck, it is because LCW dare to take risk to smash to win it ! This is exactly the same situation in the 3rd game of WC, when LCW is leading towards the end of the game, Lin Dan is brave enough to smash and win the game and WC ! LCW could has learned from his earlier mistake in WC this time !
Agree with you ! tall and big sized player, once injured , very hard to recover in full ! just like BCL or another Denmark player O'g !
The real different for today game is LCW took the shuttle earlier so that CL does not have the time to plan his counter attack !
I think it is not the MAS coaches alone ! Darren Liew game against CL in R2 also contributed ! Darren Liew took the shuttle earlier has caught CL off guard in few occasions in R2 should has contributed to LCW game strategy today !
That pretty much sums it up. CL was passive as LCW did in previous matches. Instead of going for it, CL just waited for LCW to make mistakes. To LCW's credit, he kept attacking despite of the errors. Being a great player that he is, he ended up with more winners than errors and won the match.
Tago s no chicken. He s stretched LCW to 3 games in JO and IO. Who else took a game off LCW in the last two years?
Did you see LCW dump his racket after the win? He s never done that. It s not relief, not elation, just sheer satisfaction at putting the walkover-lucky upstart in his place. By the way, what I don t understand is how come CL could not defeat LCW in G3? CL had a rest day and 7 years younger so should have the advantage in stamina. What happened to CL s mental strength? Or stamina advantage counts only at the Finals stage, SF is one match too early? How come CL couldn t close out G1, with 3 game points? No luck or lack of mental strength? Isn t evaporating CL s 3 game points proof of LCW s mental toughness? Or was it sheer luck that CL happened to be mentally weak at closing stage?
The reason is simple LCW has very good stamina and a more energy saving movement and style on court. Also I think you are grossly overestimating the value of 51 hours rest compared to 20h after 30 minutes of excersize.
Well, LD did not expect Tago to give him a hard time. Didn t Tago have a run of points and how dare he against SuperDan; this kind of opponent is not easy. G2 18-15 is still anyone s game,no sure win for LD. If it were to go to rubber, is that the best way to meet LCW in Final? The key factor could be how the French crowd treated him. Weren't they behind Tago? What if the French crowd rooted for LCW against him? If this were in China, LD would be ready for LCW. But for him to face LCW with a non-MAS crowd backing is a 99% loss outcome. Plus he wants to teach the French crowd a lesson for not showing him respect.Kudos to FO organizers for having the intelligence to schedule LD s match before LCW s.

That is one guess.. But we could just as well guess the following: LD was crushing Tago leading 18-9.. Then his nail started hurting so he tried to win without moving as his foot hurt.. Tago was allowed to catch up But LD was able to win even though he took it easy with the pain in the foot. Second set he played at 40% feeling how the toe injury was doing.. The pain didnt stop, but he realized that there was no way he could loose to Tago even with taking it easy.. And playing a third with foot pain was not appealing.. Thinking about how much he would be booed and critizied if he had to withdraw on sunday (rmembering the reaction in Singapore when he was injured) due to the toe pain.. He felt that the most rational thing was to retire and not deprive the fans and ticket buyers of a final match tomorrow, and also not deprive Tago his chance just to have to throw it away due to the injury.. So he decided to retier and give up the game due to the injury... That is another guess.. We can speculate alll we want.. But we will probably never know for sure..
