IMO, the problem is more than drawing.

Take an example, LD only "help" either CJ or CL. I am not sure if LD will put a WO or "act very well in dramatic game" if the opponent is "just" an unknown younger CHN, even WZM (not so sure if the case is DPY).

LD is seeded #2 and CL #4
in term of even distribution, should we fix LCW vs CL and PG vs LD in semifinal?
it just brings into fixed drawing :D

and in WS, the number of contestants from "the country you know" is more to prevent same country match before final/semifinal.
and this Walkover action is in semifinal, which in most occasion, CHN should have 3 or 4 players seeded 1 until 4.

It's more about UNETHICAL ATTITUDE PROBLEM

BoSan takes G2 and leads 2-0. I too would like to see the youngsters have a crack at Fu/Cai

What a performance by Juliane Schenk,no wonder she could beat Wang SX this time. If she can play like that more often, she would be a real threat to the Chinese Great Wall.

The CBA and the people running it are just incredulous.
They have just match-fixed the semi-final encounters between their players so that the de facto 'winners' will very fresh playing against non-Chinese opponents in the final matches.
Liu Xin withdrew to favor WYH and LD did the same to favor CL.
Shame, shame, shame of them to resort to such trickery to gain an undue advantage on their opponents.
I think the BWF should do something about the abuse and make badminton a clean sport worthy of its Olympic status.
Don't be afraid of the Chinese as they need your platform to gain fame and glory and not the other way round.

I think it's more about how CHN perceives badminton as a team sport with the goal of glory for the country. The majority of the winnings go to the CBA so no individual is above the other (in this sense). Walkovers and team orders then come easier as no one who loses is hit in the pocketbook.

If the future of badminton is to follow the professional route, this association run system will quickly go the way of the dinosaur. We'll then see how the pampered and protected players from CHN perform in a dog-eat-dog environment.

Yes, great performance; she worked on Saina's confidence and let Saina just self-destruct at the end.
And all the while, she kept a cool head, and worked the points, never got into a slugfest.
Good tactics, and better application of tactics.
Congratulations to juliane. You actually deserve the title!!!!

BWF should impose penalty in points and monetary term unless withdrawal is due to injury or illness as certified by tournament doctor.

Have there been reasons offered by the CBA yet on the withdrawals?

Your lines above just did not explain why there are 4 MS in lower pool while only 1 in upper one for CHN...so imbalance! It should be of 2/3 arrangement from whatsoever perspective!!!

The Japanese cheering is quite cute. Don't know what the hell they are cheering or chanting but they sound like a bees droning

That was unfortunate. Bao had sheparded the bird out the sidelines but she let it land on her. JPN 4-2

it goes something like, "bon. HEY!" and then the whole team from the stand goes, "NIPPON!! JAPAN!!!"

no idea what that means either, but yes. very cute like everything Japanese.
