Matches for Ina rep today : Simon v Ivlev (70-30) : should be practice session here... Firda v SJH (45-55) : SJH is on form, while Firda is still recovering...rubber game consider a good one Linda v Carolina (52-48) : Marin is one of future star of European...so it'll be tough, but Linda still on upper hand Alvent/Hendra AG v Chayut/Hendri (52-48) : Easy win yesterday for Ina pair, but today they might have to work little bit harder Bona/Ahsan v Hirobe/Kazuno (55-45) : I expect same outcome here Mel/Greys v Jenny/Gabrielle (50-50) : with their recent form, it should be tough battle for Ina pair Tantowi/Lily v Yoo/Kim (50-50) : another stern test of mental strengness for Tantowi here
Yesterday (at Round of 32), there were a few Womens Singles players winning in straight games. And they were; * Sung Ji Hyun (KOR).............. defeating Inthanon Ratchanok (THA) * Tai Tzu Ying (TPE)............... defeating Ella Diehl [5] (RUS) * Kaori Imabeppu [Q] (JPN)..... defeating Tatjana Bibik (RUS) * Juliane SCHENK [3] (GER)..... defeating Aprilla Yuswandari (INA) * Kim Moon Hi (KOR).............. defeating Linda Zechiri (BUL) * Carolina Marin (ESP)............. defeating Nicole Grether (GER) * Sayaka Sato (JPN)................ defeating Jeanine Cicognini (SUI) * Karin Schnasse (GER)........... defeating Anastasia Prokopenko (RUS) * Petya Nedelcheva [6] (BUL)... defeating Cee Nantana Ketpura (USA) * Eriko Hirose (JPN)................ defeating Judith Meulendijks (NED) * Saina Nehwal [2] (IND)......... defeating Sashina Vignes Waran (FRA)
I guess I would give these ratios (based on yesterdays' results); * Firda v SJH (40-60): Looks like SJH is in good form. * Linda v Carolina (60-40): Linda's experience should help.
Malaysia’s men’s back-up players were all bunked out in the 2nd round. The two independent players, WCH and MHH needed three games to subdue their opponents. The defeats of the back-up players to unseeded and unknown opponents just show how mentally weak the back-up players are in the international stage. The 2nd round encounter between SN and EH should be interesting; will it be a repeat win for EH?
. And BAM said that they will 'punish' players who cannot get into the Quarter-Finals. Looks like we won't see many MAS back-up players in future tournaments. .
Prediction : Match Invoving INA Players WS Adrianti Firdasari vs Sung Ji Hyun Well, a bit surprise Firda can beat PMS yesterday. SJH is the upper hand today. Lindaweni Fanetri vs Carolina Marin I think this young player,Carolina Marin is not an easy meat. But Linda perform really well yesterday, down 18-20 in the 3rd games and get 4 straight points to wrap it 22-20. MS Simon Santoso[2] vs Sergey Ivlev MD Hendra Aprida/Alvent Yulianto[7] vs Hendri Kurniawan/Chayut Triyachart Hendra/Alvent fulfill their seeded by beating Chen Hung Lin/Yu Lang Lin yesterday. And at least they have beat this TPE pair two times this year. Bona Septano/Mohammad Ahsan[5] vs Kenta Kazuno/Yoshiteru Hirobe Expected Bona/Ahsan to advance to Qf and most likely will face second seed Koo/Yoo. XD Tontowi Ahmad/Lilyana Natsir[5] vs Yoo Yeon Seong/Kim Kin Jung Hope Towi/Butet will fulfill their seeded. WD Greysia Polii/Meiliana Jauhari[2] vs Jenny Wallwork/Gabrielle White Hope Grey/Mel will fulfill their seeded.
What I read frem newspaper today, they will send 6 MS Back up players to BAC in China (including Arif & Goh). Hope it will be a good decision.
It won't be a good decision, they should dump the other 4 and only send Arif, Goh Soon Huat and maybe 1 or 2 more youngster that is not part of the other 4!
Funny, Pablo Abian was thinking exactly the same thing "How embarrassing would it have been to lose to an unknown and unseeded player"
Perhaps he will be thinking wow, i've beaten CHong wei! CHONG WEI Feng Today he will up against another Malaysian, Hafiz yoyo, what he'll be thinking??
It's a catch-22 situation. What choice does BAM have? If BAM does not send the back-up players to play in international tournaments, how would they be exposed? No doubt it costs a lot but BAM just has to find more sponsors and maybe get more funding from the National Sports Council.
I would say it is a good decision . I would say it is a good decision. Why? Because MAS back-up players will be able to show BAM their commitment/determination to try their best. Many BAM members (and BCers) just look at results. IMHO, if we were to look at just the results and following BAM's statement that back-up players who have failed to reach the Quarter-Finals will be 'punished', then MAS will have only a handful of players capable to meet BAM's requirement. We do not want to find very few MAS players in tournaments this year (2011). .
If BAM does not send the back-up players to play in international tournaments...... . BAM made a statement regarding not exposing players who have failed by not reaching the Quarter-Finals at previous tournaments. I will need to dig in to search for that article (from the press) before we continue in this discussion. .
I have found that article . Yes, I have found that article; http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...-without-BAM?p=1628828&viewfull=1#post1628828 .

How quickly Asia has gained the upper hand, now having almost double the entries. Nice to see the Americas are still represented.
2011 Swiss Open GPG Day 3: Almost all PAwers are picking Kaori Imabeppu (Q) to win Almost all PAwers (but excluding myself) are picking Kaori Imabeppu (Q) to win. Hope that Kaori Imabeppu can do it. .
. Thanks for the summary Gicutzu. It's great to find JPN, GER and TPE making their presence of strength here. .
. Yeah, it was a bad draw that they had a Shintaro Ikeda/Reiko Shiota-vs-Kenichi Hayakawa/Misaki Matsutomo match in the first round. .
