He is a troll because he doesn't even know what caused the match throwing before he wrote the news with fancy words. As a Chinese news reportor he should support his own country man in the first place just like BWF should support its' player first not stab them in the back.

Talked about which, the double standard in this Olympic is not a rare thing. Just look at the British cycling team for example.

LD sprinting around was exciting, the crowd was going wild, he overtly told us through his actions what this meant to him after the pressures within and pre the match. Badminton desperately needs this sort of excitement to grow, in western countries anyway.

As classy and praiseworthy as it was, it is also the exception rather than the rule but keep please count :) ...

It's a changing sign of the times, I guess. ;)

20 or so years from now, we'll be complaining, "He didn't spit and glare at his opponent after beating him! He went and shook his opponent's coach by the hand! Such disgraceful behaviour! How are we supposed to enjoy the celebration or appreciate his worth??! :crying:" ;)

For sure changing sign of the times, has been throughout the ages, people want better, bigger, more excitement more tension.
By the way the glare thing already happens in between points, not to keen on that.
The spitting thing could work though, let me think about that;)

Jackpot; this is exactly what I was getting at. No, as a journalist, he should have the integrity to report the truth and nothing but the truth, regardless of whether it's popular or not. That concept obviously conflicts with your view of the world.

things seems to have gone up and down. didn't we used to cut the head off of warriors before? certainly in Japan. when the Brits had a lot of influence over the world, their tradition of being gentlemanly has a lot of influence on sports, badminton, tennis, among others sports were very gentlemanly. but recently when the rude Americans starts to gain much more influence in sports and in media, rude, trash talks and bad behavior are now rewarded.

hopefully we will go to another cycle and things will go the other way again.

yes, that kind of sportsmanship is long lost. what is even worse is all the shouting after winning every point. It is totally unrespectable to your opponents. For god's sake, that poor guy/gal just lost one point. And you are rubbing salt into his/her wounds? Not nice at all. No sportsmanship at all.

It is becoming a worrying trend for the victor to gloat in their success 1st before shaking hands with the vanquished. Incidents of fist pumping and eye staring is also very unsportsmanlike and somehow the umpires are allowing it to happen.

NEWS about CHINA from BBC ???

NEWS about CHINA from BBC ? what's the last time one ever reads ANY REALLY POSITIVE (not just looks like positive) news about China from BBC? Even though the title, the story in general may look like to be a positive one, they'll put into some fine lines or insinuation to tarnish it eventually!

Just scrutinize all the news about China at BBC. If you think such biased reportage is just normal thing caused by some reportage style, just think again! Please also scrutinize its news on some other favored, allied countries (eg: USA, Australia, Japan) for comparison purposes.

BBC is a network fully funded by the British government, often ridiculed as British Boring Board of Control. A British Biased Corporation.

HINT: If USA has the so-called Wall Street financial center, the UK is hosting its less known though not smaller, elder sibling (as of century ago): The City of London

There are always some dissidents in some nations, for whatsoever reasons. China is of no exception! What BBC needs to do is just cherry-picking such voice of dissident to air its intended news about China, now with "some added credibility" with the so-called internal/domestic sources!

Luckily this time BBC does not interview the blind dissident, Mr. Chen or nobelized Mr. Liu :D:D

Right, and LCW should shake LD's hands first before kneeling down and cry.. He can kneel n cry later... I wasnt paying attention to the semi finals.. Did he shake CL's hand before he celebrates/kisses the floor??
Lets respect the 2greatest player whatever they do.. LD and LCW both have weaknesses, thats who they are and not who they are trying to pretend to be...

well shouting after winning a point has always happened in doubles, probably to pump up your partner and keep the intensity going. It's less common in singles. I think there's a difference between shouting to pump urself up and to celebrate a hard fought point and shouting to intimidate your opponent. it's a judgment call, but personally I dont see how a player should be prevented from shouting and fist pumping after winning a point.

edit:
and to all those who think players should refrain from wild celebrations until shaking opponent's hands, for goodness sakes, the guy just spent the past 4 years training for an event that he probably wont play ever again, isn't what we want to see in our players? heart felt emotions? who are we to say how they should act and not act? how boring would it be to watch the guy winning the biggest game of his life and just walk up to the net to shake hands and be done with it? and as if we talking about it here will make any difference lol. why can't we just enjoy the game and celebrate in their wins and losses?

Interesting observation:

Look at the Poll results. The margin is about the same as the margin that LD won against LCW. :D

A case of life imitating art, maybe? ;)
