Danmark is rebuilding, indeed, but what happened to Jan Joergensen? With Peter and Kenneth retired from landshold, he should be clear number one in my opinion. Jan became danish champion again last week and did so in convincing manner, so what was the reason to rely on HKV (who lost against Messerschmidt last week)? His track record against Zwiebler? Congrats Germany, and especially Juliane Schenk for showing great leadership, well done!

Did catch the intro of it with Gill Clark commenting on Schenk's lack of doubles play when she actually plays doubles in the German league on a consistent basis with Lotte Jonathans. Where Denmark is rebuilding I don't really see a sign of it with this German squad selection. Where Denmark has to replace Gade and "Baun", at some point Germany has to do the same with Zwiebler and Schenk. Still betting on Domke and Schnaase? Unlucky though to be in a group with two strong MS for their opponents so no opportunity for the backups, although they could've let one play against Estonia as the team result was never in doubt. Obviously for WS they are lucky to have gotten Konon but Deprez became national champion in absence of Schenk and Konon but was not even on the preliminary entry list? I see Lukas Schmidt was not present either despite being on the list and he was the runner up in the national championships behind Zwiebler. The Germans, whom you will remember defeated Demark in the women’s team event in Amsterdam last year, relied once again on their ladies and in particular the strength of their star player Juliane Schenk. The world number 4 opened up preceding’s with a two set victory over Danish youngster Line Kjaersfeldt and from there the Germans never really looked back. “I felt very good and comfortable today. I cannot understand Denmark not taking Jan Jorgensen. They should have dropped HK and taken him to play in the latter stages. I very much doubt Denmark would have lost if they had.
That doesn't mean I need to agree with said explanation. Not taking jan to this while knowing that germany had stronger players in both mens and womens singles left denmark no lee way at all. It was conceited of them to think they would win while fielding a weak squad. European team championships isn't a training camp and nor should it be treated as such.

I had the tie scored like this before play: Schenk v Kjærsfeldt 80-20 Zwiebler v HK 50-50 Juliane/Birgit v Christina/Kamilla 30-70 Ingo/Johannes v Matthias/Carsten v 25-75 Michael/Birgit v Joachim/Christina 25-75 Juliane was always going to win the first match. 2nd match was a 50-50 The failures for Denmark started really in game 3, the Women's doubles should have been won by Denmark, Schenk had already played and Birgit was injured! There really is no excuse here! Matthias & Carsten would probably have won the Doubles, and the mixed would have assured a 3-2 victory. IMO, Denmark were right to leave behind both Baun and Jørgensen, they had enough in the doubles to win. Anyway, they'll re group and be back for sure.
