Pai Yu Po - any relation to Pai Hsiao Ma? - disposed of WJC Akane Y, an upset. There goes my anticipation of a LXR - AY clash, assuming AY overcomes Lindaweni and Sung JH in the main draw.

Now everybody sits up and wants to know who is Pai Yu Po. I checked her head-to head and found that she beat Mitani in the Osaka IC 2010 but was quite easily beaten by both Hera Desi in India in 2011 and HBJ in 2013. Upsets do take place. Another tournament, another day the result may be reversed.

I believe that Pai Yu Po and Pai Hsiao Ma are sisters (at least that's what's being said on FB).

I would die for seeing this match!
what did this match not have??

    it had:
    - insane comebacks from ville: in the second game he was down 1-7, 2-9, 3-11, 8-14 and still managed to win 23-21 after saving one matchpoint at 20-21
    - in the third he was down 1-6, then managed to come back to even lead 19-15 and 20-16, managed to make one of 4 matchpoints, saving again 2 matchpoints from emil and then winning 25-23
    - playing 1:20min. must be one of the longest MS games in rally-point system ever?

    does anyone have a video?

The biggest upset of qualifying round as Akane is the fave to prevail but lost to lesser known Pai Yu Po at her first match here.
