Personally I thought the Danish coaching team are quite tactically astute. Seen a number of matches where Danish players won using good tactics against their opponents. But i think the key lies with the players, whether they can manage themselves well and play out the tactics. I doubt his coach wld ask him to play the way he did in this match. So yea..at end of the day, it's boils down to player him/her self

Think the coaches ever tell their players to stop being such children?

But he still beat him comfortably. He also thrashed LD at the Denmark Open this year.

What a condescending and unfair way to put a player down by saying he was "like a man possessed" and not himself?

Come on, give credit where credit is due...

Momota has yet to beat Chen Long, their H2H is 4-0, three in 2015, one in 2014, all won in two convincing straight sets by Chen Long (just check out the scores and you'd be surprised).

Okay I agreed with you. If Victor Axelsen could have won the match if he had control his temper better. I guess the Danish players must learn how to control his own temper.

Pushed all LD's buttons in All England(admit LD was only at 50%)

Yes,he is no match for Chen Long...........

And against LCW,I think he can do some damage........

But Peak Momota will spank everyone of his age and generation..........Tokyo Olympics is his to lose.

The long gruelling match has taken a toll on Victor Axelsen today.

In my humble opinion, you can tell pple not to behave like kid but it's tough to get them not to behave like One.

Well I am not privy to their coaching methods so I can't comment on you post. However if a coach does not instill discipline in their players then they would failed in the duties as a coach, don't you think so?

I think you misconstrued my meaning when I say like a man possessed, it was just a way of describing how incredible he was playing; maybe I should tone it down a little and simply say, played above himself, but it wouldn't have the same impact.

Let's face it, the fact that he lost to the same Momota twice in one week, and on both occasions he was determined to win, tells you that's his real standard. I mean, how would you like to see him play out-of-this-world to beat Chen Long en route to the final only to lose to someone else weaker than Chen Long, time and again?

I'm being realistic, and it's got nothing to do with giving him credit or not. The more important and relevant question is, can VA reproduce the 'unusual' standard he shown against CL when he meets other opponents or rivals? If not, which is the real VA ?

Btw, if you've read my earlier posts on VA, you'd have known how highly I think of him, rating him the best among the new, younger cohort which includes players like KM, CTC, etc.

I think VA likes to play against CL. He always perform well in those matches. On the opposite there is something bothering him with Momota. If I remember something Steen said in a tournament last year, VA and Momota have a special rivalry because they are the same generation and Momota likes this, while VA is uncomfortable with it.

It is difficult to say the order of value of the players now because we don't know where to put LD

Don't tell me MD is going to become another open field, just that I never expect to count any of the Chinese pair among them.
