Recent All England champion Nozomi Okuhara continues her early defeat after MAS Premier last week, this time lost to last year winner Sun Yu in straight games. Thailand has assured 1 quarterfinal spot through the top-form Ratchanok Intanon v Porntip Buranaprasertsuk, the latter stunned two-time champion Wang Yihan in three games. Another top-ranked WS player who booked last eight ticket, reigning world champion Carolina Marin who will up against Japanese last one standing in this category, Akane Yamaguchi. Sung Ji Hyun also stepped up to next round and meet Sun Yu. One remaining tie will pit former Singapore player who's representing USA now, Zhang Beiwen v China shining star He Bingjiao.

China has good run so far in men's singles department to secure 4 of 8 quarterfinal berth. World number one Chen Long is still far from his supreme form, eliminated Boonsak Ponsana in marathon match before Thai veteran ran out of steam in deciding game. The struggling Chen will find tough test tomorrow, Hong Kong young talent, Angus Ng Ka Long who knocked out Marc Zwibler at last sixteen. 6th seed Tian Houwei needed extra game to overcome Hsu Jen Hao and has the resurgent Son Wan Ho tomorrow. The unseeded Korean delivered second round surprise to dump Danish rising talent, Viktor Axelsen. At bottom half of draw, it's CHN-INA affairs, former Indonesian number one Sony Dwi Kuncoro will meet China number four, Wang Zhengming. And the great Lin Dan has third Indonesian player in his path, Tommy Sugiarto.

One WD semifinal spot for Japanese WD pair as their number one Matsutomo/Takahashi will face Matsuo/Naito. China-Indonesia rivalry will see the Olympic Champion Tian Q/Zhao YL and 2014 Asian Games gold medalist Maheswari/Polii are favoured to defeat Haris/Sari and Chen QC/Jia YF respectively. Jung KE/Shin SC defied the odds against Huang YQ/Tang JH despite they're trailed behind 3-11 at deciding game. The Korean leading ladies have Japanese rival, 2015 WC bronze medalist Fukuman/Yonao.

Badminton powerhouses, China and Indonesia score positive notes in men's doubles category as both nations have three representatives each in last eight. Korean stellar combination, Lee YD/Yoo YS will set up a mouth watering clash tomorrow against defending champion Pratama/Suwardi. Current world champion Ahsan/Setiawan have 2013 world junior champion Li JH/Liu YC. The young Chinese pair stunned Japanese consistent MD, Endo/Hayakawa in gruelling three games. China number one Fu HF/Zhang N will find stern test, the well-improved Gideon/Sukamuljo and last week MAS Premier beaten finalist, Chai B/Hong W will take on Kamura/Sonoda for a place in last four.

Top-contender Ahmad/Natsir look in good shape and pass preliminary rounds without much troubles, the world number two will repeat their meeting with English married couple, Chris & Gabby Adcock after MAS Premier last week. Both of them downed Korean opponents previously, Lee YD/Lee SH and Shin BC/Chae YJ respectively while third seed Ko SH/Kim HN have Chinese qualifier Liu YC/Tang JH. Current All England champion Jordan/Susanto had thrilling match to save four match points before grabbed 6 consecutive point to continue their journey here, the Indonesian number two will be tested by former All England winner, Xu C/Ma J. The lower-ranked Kazuno/Kurihara created big upset, sent packing second seed and 2015 World Championships silver medalist Liu C/Bao YX who's showing dismal performance lately. The Japanese pair will face China young duo Wang YL/Chen QC to hunt semifinal spot.

I'll go for the same! But I love upsets, esp when the lower ranked player is a youngster! So I wish Kevin and partner def FuNan! Although if I am supposed to put money than your "prediction :D " earns a vote from my end..

If fu/zhang unable to handle the taunt from Kevin, they better retire before Rio.

Forget what was it about, all I can remember Zhang Nan was so upset to Kevin/Greysia the last time they met in XD match, ZN/ZYL lost the match leading him to slam his racket onto the floor. Twice.

Chen Long keeps landing himself in trouble and having to fight his way back. How often can he get away with it ?
