Title holder Chen Long who withdrew in last week INA Premier due to back injury is scheduled to back in action on Wednesday, taking on qualifier and he's scripted to face Chou Tien Chen at last eight. His arch-rival, soon-to-be world number one Lee Chong Wei who succeeded to gain 6th INA Premier title couple of days ago pulled out of this tournament in last minute. Men's singles discipline looks less competitive as some top names have withdrawn, 2014 Champion Lin Dan, two Danish stars, Viktor Axelsen and Jan O Jorgensen, also 8th seed Tommy Sugiarto and German's world number 10, Marc Zwiebler as well.

2015 winner Carolina Marin who supposed to meet against Akane Yamaguchi once again have pulled out but many first layer players show up in this tournament, Superseries hat-trick winner Ratchanok Intanon, the Chinese trio, former champion Saina Nehwal, reigning All England winner Nozomi Okuhara, P.V. Sindhu. A possible rematch will see last year runner-up Wang SX v He Bingjiao at second round. An unfavourable first round draw of back to back Superseries for the tall Chinese Sun Yu, she met Ratchanok Intanon at Jakarta and Nozomi Okuhara here.

Top-seed Ahsan/Setiawan scored uninspiring performance as they failed to reach semifinal stage in 2016 Superseries tour so far including INA Premier last week. In the absence of Korean two-time winner Lee/Yoo plus their two teammates Kim GK/Kim SR and Ko SH/Shin BC, the major threat should coming from second seed Fu HF/Zhang N. The Chinese pair have difficult opening test, the dynamic and well-improved Japanese combination Kamura/Sonoda. Another notable pairs in this category, Endo/Hayakawa, Chai B/Hong W, Pratama/Suwardi, Li JH/Liu YC, former All England champion Koo KK/Tan BH.

Women's doubles department suffer lack of participants, a setback for Superseries grade due to its schedule is quite closer to Rio 2016. Some intriguing ties will be started from last sixteen but there's one interesting first round clash that will pit Chinese new experimenting pair, Bao Yixin/Chen Qingchen against Indonesian back-up pair Della Destiara Haris/Rosyita Eka Putri Sari. Hot favourite Matsutomo/Takahashi may face their fellow countrywomen in last eight and semifinal while their nemesis, Tang YT/Yu Y and Maheswari/Polii are drawn alongside with Pedersen/Juhl and recent INA Premier semifinalist, Vivian Hoo/Woon KW.

Recent MAS Premier Ahmad/Natsir winner should redeem their shocking defeat to Astrup/Kjaersfeldt last week here, coincidentally they will face another Denmark fresh pair, Rasmussen/Fruergaard. Almost all top guns in this discipline come to Sydney, only Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei, former winner Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na and Xu Chen/Ma Jin are excluded from the draw, the latter who defended their INA Premier crown last Sunday withdrew from this tournament. Defending champion, Reginald Lee CH/Chau HW have rocky road to repeat their successful, tough rival will waiting at last sixteen to meet 7th seed Chan PS/Goh LY then most likely Danish ace Fischer/Pedersen at last eight.

The 2016 XiamenAir Australian Badminton Open will be held 7 June to 12 June 2016.
There are 6 days of competition, and ticketing for each day varies accordingly.

Day 1: Tuesday 7 June (9am to 5pm with door opening at 8am) – Qualifying rounds using five courts
Day 2: Wednesday 8 June (9am to 9pm with door opening at 8am) – Main draw round of 32 using five courts
Day 3: Thursday 9 June (1pm to 9pm with door opening at 12pm) – Round of 16 using four courts
Day 4: Friday 10 June (3pm to 9pm with door opening at 2pm) – Quarter-finals using three courts
Day 5: Saturday 11 June (1pm to 7pm with door opening at 12pm) – Semi-Finals using two courts
Day 6: Sunday 12 June (1pm to 7pm with door opening at 12pm) – Finals using one court

Maybe Hendrawan advise LCW to WDN since Jonatan Christie will play on-fire like his compatriot Ihsan Maulana that manage to play all-out.

From last IO, Hendrawan giving press conference that he replaced LCW in giving press conference speech because LCW catching the flight.

With Lee Chong Wei also pulled out last minute, MS draw is losing many top-names this time. Only Chen Long, Tian Houwei and Chou Tien Chen are the seeded players left.
 
Too many withdrawals. Lin dan, chong wei, joj, va, etc. makes Aussie open less competitive.

Interestingly, despite what Morten Frost and Hendrawan said, many people in the forum actually believed that the fact that LCW remained undefeated since the 2016 Malaysia Open was not a good sign; they claimed that Lee should lose more to feel fewer pressure in the upcoming Olympics.

A well-known commentator, Steen Pedersens constantly looked down upon LCW since his comeback. He openly said he favored LD to take his third gold. In fact, He was betting on CL to take China Open 2015 last year. You can listen to his commentary while watching China Open 2015 as well as Indonesia Open 2016 this year. He also predicted that Lee Chong Wei would play three games against Jan Jorgensen but ended up losing the title.

A lot of people quoted his comment on Lee's supposed upcoming failure in the Rio Olympics.
 
I have no intention to predict the outcome. But I am glad of LCW's performance lately. Winning or losing; It wouldn't change the fact that he is one of the great players of this generation.
 
To LCW, winning this Olympic is everything to him, he will retire without regret. How to call him if he doesn't win this Olympic or any majors. A great player without major? Or LCW prefers to be call former #1 and Olympic champion.
 
After LCW withdrew from AUS SS, Jonatan will play Heo Kwang Hee, another promising youngster from Korea. This young man has positive H2H against Jonatan and Ihsan Maulana.

Should be an interesting match to watch.
