Last night, I had my best game with the 88D pro 3U.

It was a high level doubles match. My smashing power was adequately powerful but I also tried to be smart with it sometimes going fully out with the power and sometimes deliberately holding back a bit even though I am in a good position.

My defence was better than normal getting back the shuttle a few more times than previously. That put some pressure on the opponents as it made them play extra shots.

Around the net area, I didn’t notice much difference to my game.

i have ordered another one but the distributor has run out of stock! Need to wait. Also plan to get a third and fourth one but happy to wait for the second hand market.

mine is strung with BG 80 at 28lbs. It feels quite lively.

Cheung, how did you experience the flat fast play?(drives) U am really considering buying a 3U for the extra weight as i always use 3U since it suit me best. But i amaffraid the drives will be too slow, although people say the defense is not bad.

@Cheung How does the Pro 88D compare to the previous gen 88D? I have both 4U and 3U 88D.

For me, I don't feel there's a problem with swing speed for drives. If you are used to 3U usually, I don't think you will be at a disadvantage from this aspect. Whether you will get better is something else.

Has any one who has a 3u 88d pro tried the astrox 100ZX in a 3u. I just find the 100zz just too stiff.

Does anyone know if the 88D pro 4u has more power than a 3u 100zz from the rear court?

I had no problems with it. I did try my friends 4U as well and that was OK as well.

Gave the astrox 88S pro 3U a second try yesterday.

The first try was not that good, I much preferred my arcsaber 11.

But yesterday I don’t know why nor how but it came alive!

Much more responsive than initially. The shaft of this thing is incredibly lively!
To compare to my usual arcsaber, it’s more manoeuvrable, more powerful (or at least easier to produce lots of power), but you’re missing the incredible accuracy of the arc11.
The feel is very crisp too (BG80 at 26lbs)

Will update my feelings Monday as I could compare it to 88D pro 4U too

So played two more times with S pro 3U and gave D pro 4U two playing sessions

In the end I find the D pro 4U to be a better all rounder: it’s quicker, power is just the same but as it is quicker you can attack more shuttles, and it is just as precise

A good all rounder for someone who wants a fast racquet which can offer penetrating power when needed

So to be sure, i got the 3U 88D Pro but i find it too heavy especially in the defense. Does the 4U Version still packs enough power for a good smash?

Yeah to me it offers enough power to score points with one smash

All the 4U I used in the past (auraspeed 90K, Kawasaki K8, nanoflare 700, jetspeed 10…) didn’t have this ability in my hands
But with this one you’ve got a fast racquet which is a threat at the back.
The only drawback is a slight lack of comfort on impact as Yonex racquets tend to be harder feeling that what I used before, or that just me because we couldn’t play for nine months…

    ^^

if you compare that to a 3u even balanced racquet, is it slightly slow? or big margin?

I'm defo going to have to try this now if it offers that good level of compromise between power and speed

It’s clearly quicker than my arcsaber 11 which is the only even balance racquet in my bag.
It’s quicker than 88S pro 3U too which is on the verge between head heavy and even balance.
But of course it’s slower than jetspeed 10 4U

After some hesitation I’m back with 88D pro 4U. I have to admit it’s much more user friendly than arcsaber 11 even if sometimes I lack the incredible confidence arc11 gives you when playing at the net

My shuttles were short when not in my best shape with arc11, and it was even worse when playing singles, so I needed to switch to something that fits my game and with a little more give…

88D pro is this racquet. 4U is enough i think for a majority of players. It’s nowhere near a sledgehammer but you can still finish the point with one smash, it has just enough head weight to make it powerful without giving it a cumbersome feel

The reviews weren't wrong about the 88S pro lacking power in smash! But, it's so much fun to use.
I have borrowed the D too, but having too much fun to swap. Both in 4u.

Edit. How can I love/hate 2 such similar rackets? Just cannot get the timing of the D and its shredding my elbow within a game. Meanwhile I'm jump smashing with the S pro, and loving every shot. That hold feeling gives me a lot of control.

Going for the 88D Pro soon but the camel/gold colour scheme turns me off. Thinking what colour of strings and grip I should use to pair with this racket. Any recommendations? Hey i'm paying for the aesthetics too lol
