1st SS title for RR
At least now Indonesian fans not only relies on the men's doubles sector to win the title.
Congratulations apri/fadia, you girls fight passionately and fearlessly
What a performance by both pairs and it's great to see Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti winning their first World Tour title (and 2nd title as a pair, after their victory at the SEA Games). Congratulations to them!
The INA WD pair will be hoping to reach Top 10 Ranking by end of this year. It has been nothing short of a fantastic 4 tourney debut so far:
SEA Games 2022 - Individual Event Gold (beating the top 2 seeds - Rawinda Prajongjai/Jongkolphan Kititharakul & the Aimsaard sisters Benyapa and Numthakarn)
Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2022 (Super 500) - RUNNER-UP (beating the second-seed Lee So Hee/Shin Seung Chan and the sixth seed Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan, losing to the top-seed and reigning World Champion Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan in the Final)
East Ventures Indonesia Open 2022 (Super 1000) - QUARTER-FINAL (beating the fifth-seed Mayu Matsumoto/Wakana Nagahara and Zheng Yu/Zhang Shuxian, before losing to the second-seed Lee So Hee/Shin Seung Chan in the QF)
Petronas Malaysia Open 2022 (Super 750) - WINNER (beating 2 seeded pairs Nami Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida and Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan en-route to the SF; followed by Jeong Na Eun/Kim Hye Jeong and Zheng Yu/Zhang Shuxian again in the SF and Final)
The grind for more ranking points continue at the Perodua Malaysia Masters 2022 (Super 500) next week. Depending on withdrawals of pairs, they could face:
R32 vs Supissara Paewsampran/Puttita Supajirakul
R16 vs Baek Ha Na/Lee Yu Lim or Gabriela Stoeva/Stefani Stoeva
QF vs Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota or Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan
Followed by the Singapore Open 2022 (Super 500) in the following week:
R32 vs Jin Yujia/Crystal Wong Jia Ying
R16 vs Linda Efler/Isabel Lohau
QF vs Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan
And then the Yonex Chinese-Taipei Open (Super 300) to conclude the 4 tourneys tour:
R32 vs Q3 (a local pair)
R16 vs Cheng Yu-Pei/Sun Wen-Pei or Francesca Corbett/Allison Lee
QF vs Chang Ching-Hui/Yang Ching-Tun
SF vs Yeung Nga Ting/Yeung Pui Lam or Ng Tsz Yau/Tsang Hiu Yan or Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari/Rachel Allessya Rose
F vs Anna Ching Yik Cheong/Teoh Mei Xing or Febriyana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi or Febby Valencia Dwijayanti Gani/Ribka Sugiarto or Sayaka Hobara/Hinata Suzuki
I will expect at least 2 QF placings and another title in the next three tourneys for them. With those points, they will rise up to the Top 35 Ranking before the Japan Open 2022 and the European tour in the Autumn months.
Sounds like a good plan
They will reach top 10 in next year
Rat is gonna lose on stamina
well well well....rat gonna win
time for the main event.....
So when you become Olympic Champ, you just lose motivation? I can understand if thats a few and the only title you can win and its just part of luck winning THE ONE
However i dont see that in Axelsen and Rahayu..Well Rahayu havent won that many SS. if any the one that has won many SS will be demotivated after winning OG.
Ratchanok has great range of shots and variations but today i felt that she did not use most of them. Chen Yufei has great movement and control all over the court but i felt she plays like a military girl, such a discipline but no variations.
Wow Intanon beat CYF wow
What an emotional victory for Ratchanok Intanon, after a 2-years draught since winning the Indonesia Masters 2020!
A revenge victory too against Chen Yufei, who beat in the Indonesia Masters 2022 last month.
It has been a tough couple of years for May, who also lost her mom to acute coronary syndrome in August 2021.
May's record this year:

Korea Open Badminton Championships 2022 (QF - lost to Pornpawee Chochuwong in 3-sets)
TotalEnergies BWF Uber Cup Finals 2022 (QF - lost to Chen Yufei in 2-sets)
GR Toyota Gazoo Racing Thailand Open 2022 (SF - lost to Tai Tzu Ying in 3-sets)
Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2022 (Runner-Up - lost to Chen Yufei in 3-sets)
East Ventures Indonesia Open 2022 (R16 - lost to Line Hojmark Kjaerfeldt in 3-sets)
Petronas Malaysia Open 2022 (WINNER, beating 3 CHN players in a row)
