Not sure about the past, but Ahsan is the one who is carrying the pair right now… Well, I also don’t think how anyone can claim Hendra was the better player than Kido back in ‘08…
How is Ahsan carrying Setiawan? There was a short period after they got Back together, where Setiawan looked Like He is done. That was the only time when Ahsan carried Them. Of course in single Matches or with injuries there have been exceptions. But Overall Hendra hast been so much steadier. Ahsan gives so many Points away with wrong shot selection or wild plays. Hendra pretty much Always tries the right shot, although it doesnt Always come as good as in the past. And Kido has Always been switching between brilliance and unforced Errors. Don't get me wrong, I adore Kido and Ahsan. But Setiawan is GOAT Material. Due to His level, Not His titles. Ahsan and Kido are certainly Not on GOAT Level. Who Else has been THIS deadly at the net? Can only think of Gunawan.
Such a shame SatRaj and TTY lost. Pair are still young they can still improve that last few critcal % but for TTY just a few more chances left. Happy KV and AY are through to the final at least there's some Dharmic representation in the finals. Would be dull if every player had their complete calm but I admire their lack of cheating/gamesmanship/screaming. Hope Daddies win tomorrow Hendra is amazing (he should be with that name!)
Yamaguchi commented that she deliberately chose the 'bad' end in G1, knowing that this would put pressure on an already tired An Se Young to win that first game. When the score was 19-19, she realised that ASY will have been feeling the pressure more acutely. According to her interview answers, it wasn't only a rallying strategy as far as Yamaguchi was concerned; she used speed effectively, making sure to get to the shuttle fast, and also made a deliberate attempt to direct the shuttle to parts of the court from which ASY wasn't aiming to play her next shot from. In the interval between G1 and G2, it was interesting to hear the coaches encouraging Yamaguchi on. They considered her to possess the tool-kit to defeat ASY; it was confidence that seemed to be the issue. They repeatedly told her be confident.
I know that Park Joo Bong wanted to take revenge for Tokyo, but did he actually specify how many medals he was aiming for? Are three WC medals enough to vindicate that disaster? I doubt it, ... although actually winning a title or two might help.
I don’t think PJB should take the blame if Japan fails to win any title (which is a distinct possibility). It’s really the talent. Japan rode the wave with current batch of players who have been the backbone for 4+ years. It’s unlikely to remain dominant with the same group of players for this long, as age, injury, new competition will change things. MS/XD basically depends on one player/pair. WS has no one behind Okuhara and Yamaguchi. WD and MD have actually managed to “pass the baton” to (slightly) younger players but are both thinner. While it is totally reasonable to change the head coach to have a fresh start, PJB shouldn’t be responsible for the overall lack of talent.
I think its Hendra that is carrying Ahsan this tournament. if their achevements is almost the same then i will look at longevity , he has been top of his game way longer, more career wins, longer in top 8 etc. Mind you Hendra didnt even play WC 14 17 and 21. He can basically plays WC every other year and still ended up winning it. Dont even worried if its Malaysia will win which i expected it too. He has made his marks. to me AsianGames is prolly equal or close to equal to WorldChamp coz its only 4 years once. Its one of the hardest tournament to win with total knockouts with only 2 reps from each country.
FINAL (03.00pm) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/tournament/9bc6d676-3d48-4551-bf0a-2631be8105a1/matches/20220828 Well, major event specialist China has chance to rake more than one title, the badminton giant only bagged 1 gold medal in two previous editions at Europe (2019 Basel and 2021 Huelva) whilst host Japan expects to rectify disastrous Olympic Games result at home turf. The Daddies will eye 4th world title to equal China formidable duo Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng achievement, unbeliavable spirit and determination, practically they banking on experience and strategy to outwit the on-fire Alfian/Ardianto, the duel of flat game favoured to former champions. Aaron Chia/Soh WY bear huge burden to fulfill the expectation for MAS fans long-time dream to have World Champion. They continue winning record over Indian dynamic duo Rankireddy/Shetty despite had arduous circumstances to overcome nervousness. Chen/Jia will meet traditional rival, Korean pair in last round. Kim/Kong had to dig deep to conquer the valiant Thai combo by Supajirakul/Taerattanachai. The unexpected resistance that manifested into explosive shots and fast interception block at the net put tremendous pressure for the higher-ranked combination. If the Chinese won third title this evening, they would emulate predecessors Gao Ling/Huang Sui (2001, 2003, 2006). Two players from different generation will involve in MS title contention, a career breakthrough for three-time World Junior Champion in his senior years to step up into centre stage of BWF major event, he subdued the giant killer Zhao JP. After fell short in opening game, 20-22 the Chinese performance deteriorated drastically, unable to balance Vitidsarn grueling rallies and solid rock defense, mental block is detected due to massive uncharacteristic error and disarray pattern. An uphill task for the talented Thai young star against Axelsen who didn’t drop any game towards second final of world championship after Glasgow 2017. The well-determined veteran Chou TC exerted his best effort to stem the near invincible Dane in second game but Axelsen was unstoppable at the end, a better player tactically, mentally and physically. Another setback in major event, perhaps Tai TY is destined to miss the elusive gold medal, such a cruel fate for this wonderful skilled shuttler. Tai indicated slighty fatigue signs in deciding game, struggling to serve Chen YF laborious rallies, had limited time to orchestrate the repertoire of deceptive shots, she made good comeback to save six match points in trailing behind 12-20 but it’s too late to awake and catch up. Home fave Yamaguchi is ready to defend her title, eliminates arch rival An SY, close opening game where both players whose style of play resemblance traded point, running relentless long rallies until one of them intercept with disguising drop or cross court smash. Then the Korean suffered deficiency of her agility in second game as she asked medical treatment at interval break, the omen of defeat had arrived, far from expected the duel was completed in quicker duration. Will Zheng/Huang unbeaten run persist in Tokyo? Watanabe/Higashino need something new inspiration, change tactic to beat the mighty duo. The Japanese contenders end Lamsfuss/Lohau dream run convincingly while the Chinese did usual business to beat compatriots Wang/Huang. The strenuous effort is needed to overcome toughest hurdle prior to final here were Jomkoh/Paewsampran in third round, they had tense moment before prevailed narrowly at the end.

Asian Games Equal to or Close to the BIGGEST AND MOST PRESTIGIOUS EVENT OF THE YEAR THE MIGHTY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS ? Please tell me your joking..I mean if it really was Equal or even CLOSE To the Mighty Most Pretigious Event of the Year like BWC then it should have Worlds best right ? However,I Never saw the Great Carolina Marin play in Asian Games or The Great Viktor Axelsen,The Great Peter Gade,The Great Camilla Martin,The Great Paul Erik ? Sorry to break it down to you sir but any tournament that is REGIONAL is not CLOSE to let alone Equal to a WORLD TOURNAMENT like the Biggest events of Badminton Year which are only two The Most Highly Prestigious Olympic Games and The Most Highly Prestigious World Championships. Simiarly a lot of people of former British colonies like India,Malaysia consider COMMONWELATH GAMES as a close or Equal to the above mentioned real Major tournaments but these are just frogs of colonial well who dont even know what real global tournaments are. OLYMPIC GAMES & WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS are the BIGGEST and MOST PRESTIGIOUS EVENTS IN BADMINTON WORLD...No Other tournament comes even close to this level cause.
