2024 Paris Olympic qualification

I'm confused.

Some are by passed the first stage ? like group ASY and TZY ?

The olympic draws are imbalanced, some players have more or less free ticket to reach QF and some players have to struggle already at group stage.
Compare JC and AA draw. JC is actually ranked higher than AA and still has a group with 4 players, no bye after group stage, + harder group opponents.

Specially for CM, easy way to Gold.

Chen Yufei, An Se Young and Tai in WS and Viktor , Shi Yuqi and Anders Antonsen in MS ,don't need to play another group winner in KnockOut Stage?.
Advantage being higher seeds!

ASY will need to beat AY and TzY to reach final
It’s quite exciting how it goes
Sad for AY it seems this is her last chance for Olympic , I hope AY has fully recovered

Sindhu , for her 3rd medal, she need to cross He bingjiao in knockout stage, Chen yufei in quarters, most possibly Marin in Semis . Its extremely difficult. But considering her reputation, its still possible.

CM has a great draw. Feels sad that one of AY, ASY, TTY will not be able to medal considering three of them along with CYF dominated the field in 2021,22,23. Marin had different plan it seems and just came at the right moment and earned 4th seed.

For Sindhu- HBJ, CYF, CM I feel is better than TTY, AY and ASY. I’m not expecting her to medal but a satisfying performance is what will make me happy even if it’s a loss against CYF but a good fight is required. Sindhu, do well.

As for Lakshya Sen- JC, Prannoy, Kodai, Viktor for finals spot is tougher than Sindhu.

For HSP most probably- Christie, Kodai, Viktor for finals.

Wishing everyone all the best. Watching Olympics with full crowd after 8 years will be refreshing for us badminton fans. Enjoy all.

@LenaicM, you going for Olympics ?

Sindhu , for her 3rd medal, she need to cross He bingjiao in knockout stage, Chen yufei in quarters, most possibly Marin in Semis . Its extremely difficult. But considering her reputation, its still possible.
Very very slim chance to say. From my observation, 3rd time Olympic attempt mostly failed : Gao Ling, Yang Wei, Lin Dan, Yu Yang

is it bwf? or ioc?

Initially, they believed they had secured their spot, but their qualification was revoked due to a point miscalculation by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).This error placed them behind compatriots Christo and Toma Junior Popov by a narrow margin of 29 points, a critical issue as only one pair from each country is allowed to compete. In April, Ronan Labar and Lucas Corvée were confident in their qualification after the Popov brothers were eliminated early in the European Championships. However, on April 17, the BWF updated the rankings, deducting points from Labar and Corvée due to a discovered error from the Sudirman Cup in May 2023.The BWF had introduced a new rule for team tournaments that year, which led to mistakes in point allocations affecting the Olympic rankings and allowing the Popov brothers to overtake Labar and Corvée.
This sudden shift in rankings was a major setback for the duo. Labar expressed his frustration with the BWF’s brief apology, stating it did not adequately address the severe impact on their Olympic hopes. Despite this, Ronan Labar and Lucas Corvée decided to challenge the decision legally.Taking their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), they achieved a significant victory. The CAS ruled in their favour and instructed the BWF to negotiate with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to expand the men’s doubles competition from 16 to 17 pairs. This adjustment allowed both French pairs to participate. The final decision lied with the IOC, which had historically supported the BWF’s decisions. The IOC had asked to grant a wild card to increase the number of competing pairs.
