Hello, I'm looking for a racket upgrade and I'm currently using a 3U Voltric 5. I'm an intermediate player and very smash happy. I play mostly doubles but singles as well and only play with plastics. I am getting a deal on the following rackets:

    Astrox 6
    Voltric 8 E-tune
    Duora Z Strike

I know there's really no point getting the Z strike since I read it's bad with plastics and is extra stiff. So I guess I'm trying to decide if the Astrox 6 or Voltric 8 E-tune really an upgrade from my Voltric 5. Other than the rackets being 4U and lighter, will they feel pretty much like my Voltric 5?

Any opinions would help. I would like to add the Voltric Z-Force 2 into the mix as well. TIA!

I assume you're fine with spending money on the high-end racket?

I wouldn't recommend Z-force II as it's stiff, especially for plastics. Perhaps something like Astrox 88S?

Jetspeed 12 is also a good option since you don't want something that's too stiff

Thanks for the reply. I was able to use the Z-Strike for a session and contrary to what I've read, it did not feel weird for me with plastics at all. What an AMAZING racket! I loved it! I had no problem with the stiffness so now I'm curious if I should give the Z-Force II a go? Any opinions with Z-Strike vs Z-Force II or would it be too taxing on shoulder/elbows?

    Will I regret playing with a 3U Z-Force 2 in doubles?

More than likely unless you are pretty strong, 3u zf2 is a handful during fast flat rally play

What do you think is more forgiving for a backhand clear. Z-Strike or Z-Force 2?

Do not buy Z Force 2 lol. It's not suited for real game play imo

It's extremely head heavy with a very small sweet spot. I would only use it to hit smashes for fun. If it was a tournament and money was on the line, I would not be using ZF2 lol

For power forehand or backhand its probably easier with the zf2 due to the headweight, if you can hit the sweet spot well.
Honestly mate if your sold on the idea of a zf2 and play a lot of doubles get a 4u as atleast thats a little easier to handle

Unfortunately I can only get the 3U ZF2. I did really enjoy the one session with the Z-Strike but I'm just wondering if the Z-Force 2 will be even better - I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. Thanks for the help, appreciate it.

Is the ZF2 sweet spot even smaller than the Z-Strike?

Yes. The DUORA Z-Strike is pretty good. The NANORAY Z-Strike is the one that is hard to use.

hey man, i got a ZF2 but its 4U.. would recommend 4U if you are going for it.. although, the frame is a bit small but once you're accurate on your hits.. the smashes are powerful and the sound is superbbbbbb.. give it a try

I've tried a bunch of Yonex mid range voltric and astrox line and none of them felt special to me. I did enjoy the Z-strike but I wanted something more head heavy. Thanks for your suggestion, I think I will go for the ZF2! Unfortunately i can only get the 3U, hopefully not going to be a issue.

well ZF2 itself is already a heavy racquet.. adding to the head heavy.. the whole racquet will be slightly harder to play with.. it takes up your stamina much faster and ur wrist wont be as fast... but you never know.

What's your string of choice with your ZF2? I do play plastics.

string tension really depends on whether how hard you can hit with your racquet.. my ZF2's tension is only at 24lbs.. suits be rather well..

I think with plastics 24lbs is perfect for me as well. What type of strings do you use? Have you tried different strings with your ZF2?
