Xu Chen's partner in MD then, Cai Yun, is probably still seething at his loss and the subsequent rare outrage at the Jiangsu's coaches for arranging 3 matches for Xu Chen in one day. His outrage was also possibly attributed to the fact that he could not win a coveted Gold Medal in both the Team & Individual events prior to his impending retirement.
