    Hello.
I've been searching for a pair of badminton shoes, I think I consider myself as beginner player. I heard a badminton shoes is quite important even for beginner player, I'm currently using running shoes to play badminton, works pretty well or maybe I haven't tested the feeling of a badminton shoes.

My budget is kind of random, if necessary can go high until MYR300, but best price range would be 100~200+.
So I heard ASICS provides cheaper and decent badminton shoes but I don't know how to choose. I know Yonex is expensive but i just read a post saying there are cheaper yonex shoes like 1xx?
That's why I came to here, to get your professional advice on the shoes.

Do note that within these 3 months, my gf is in USA so if there's any brand that is cheaper in USA please do let me know.
    I'm looking for shoes like
    - most likely well known brand? Yonex/ASICS/Li-Ning?
    - good design? :D

    Thanks in advance !

Not a pro just club player. Running shoe vs court shoes are a world of difference IMO.
You get much better grip. Also the heel area has more reinforcement to take more impact. Also the entire shoe is stiffer to give more stability for the sudden stops.
Brands are personal preference and all will have entry levels to pros.
Entry level are made of PVC almost entirely and the pro shoes are usually made of fabric.
So entry level shoes are heavier than the pro shoes.
They also vary with the sole reinforcement material. Again entry level shoes are heavier.
My favourite now is Mizuno. In fact my current pair seems to be for volleyball. Intermediate shoe at abt $120 SGD.
As for the US...other than factory sales they are never cheaper than Asia.
I don't like Yonex and Victor cos the entry level shoes are made of very poor materials. Entire PVC this also means it has poor ventilation. Hot & smelly feet :)
So buy a pair u won't regret. Cos if u continue to use ur running shoe u gonna mark the courts and is gonna wear out real fast.

If she buys a pair, and they don't fit you, would you be able to return them and get your money back?

Thanks for your suggestions. Can't wait to try a court shoes.
So the questions is, how do I differentiate between PVC material and Fabric. I kind of understand what is PVC material, is it looks more shiny and plastic like material ? That's what I don't like, if it's like normal Adidas or Nike shoes, I think it's fabric I think ?
So you suggest Mizuno, hmm I'm gonna take a look. Mizuno offers cheap and value fabric shoes right ?

We did test a size before she go to USA, or I just test again in Malaysia to see which US size am I. Should be ok, I'm little bit worried about the size also. But still considerable.
Do you have any brand in your mind ?

Bro cheap is relative. So ppl say $500 for a LV is cheap but some are ok with a $50 bag.
So go for best u can afford. If u play often. Better to spend a little more.
You are right abt the material.
Also finally is to try it on. The shoes may vary in cuts so some ppl find some models very narrow and cause feet to be painful.
Not sure abt your area but In Singapore quite a good range.
Victor do offer models with wide cutting. So for wide feet go for these. Yonex on the whole to me is narrow cutting.

Actual lengths might be different across different brands with the same marked sizes.
Sometimes same sizes of different models of the same brand might not fit the same foot due to different footshape / toe box designs.
Try to try the shoes before purchasing if you can.
The right size is particularly important in Badminton because the footwork is much more complicated than that of running.

Guys, I've been searching around in this
I've search around in the forum and there's too much information that I couldn't take in.
    What I've in mind is
Asics is good but I think MYR500+ for good ones? And people said they're heavy ?
Yonex can be good with limited budget. In the table of reviews in the forum, I've seen SHB 100 & 99 98 have good reviews but I couldn't found it in Google so I expect it's outdated. So what are the great series of Yonex I can look into with let's say SGD100 in your money.
Li-Ning people said good but very expensive so I didnt research on this.
Victor ive seen many people saying Victor product is not bad. Haven't look into it yet.

Since you suggest Victor and Yonex. Besides the cutting and size, which series can I look into with SGD100 budget ?

    True.
If the price really different by a lot, maybe I'll test it in Malaysia, and ask her to buy the exact same product with same size there ? Asking her buy is just optional. Not much to worried about.
Well do you have any shoes in your mind ?

Why do you suggest that particular model? U using it now?

BTW I asked a "good review" friendly shop, he suggest me that I shouldn't buy expensive one if I play badminton weekly, I don't understand why.
He suggested me MAXX Jumper Lite which cost MYR 99 and Yonex Court Ace Light MYR 199.
I've search and seen all Yonex new shoes are Power Cushion series right, so i'm wondering which power cushion series is decent and cheap.

Don't trust 100% what shop owners says. They sometimes only wanna clear stock or earn more as they get better margin.
They have to be honest but no one will know until u or ur peers become regulars.
My shop owner will tell me is clearance or end of the line model...if the discount is good....i will buy.

    Snug fit. Not too heavy.
I don't like shoe that's all PVC. I don't like ultra stiff shoes.
Then the vain factor....prefered colour. Some shoe designers to me maybe colour blind or send by competition to sabotage .
Don't worry too much....when I doubt buy the most expensive from major brands.
Lose to ppl also don't lose the style......hahahah.

It's a "neutral" shoes for me. The cushioning just make : not too much, which might cause instability or inresponsiveness , and not too stiff.
And I feel that it is a little bit lighter than SHB-65.

I would like to try to make myself clear ;)
The Yonex Shb-65X is the "Japan" version of shb-87ex. "Japan" version is the version sold in Japan. They look the same with differences in choices of some parts materials.
    Shb-65 / 65ex is the successor of shb-65x / 87ex. As I said earlier, I feel that shb-65x /87ex is a little bit lighter and little bit more agile that shb-65 /65ex.
