Kudos to Djarum for Another Exceptional Event ......
Maybank money spent alone cannot not make the Malaysian Open, or any Open whatsoever, to be of at least half the standard of the Djarum Indonesia Open.
Just look at Korea - big prize money, and practically nothing else. Except the biting minus-zero weather ......
The effort that goes into the planning and execution of the Djarum Indonesia Open required huge commitment and significant attention to details. Which, given the culture of how other countries market and plan their badminton events - is impossible for them to follow Djarum's blueprint.
Very few events seriously do painstaking work, year after year, to gather feedback on how their tournament planning and execution could be improved. Djarum goes the extra mile with yearly surveys conducted with players, officials and the public on what they wish to improve for the following tournaments ...... and then, actually improve on what was requested to a standard beyond what was expected.
The result : The Istora is an old venue - but it easily shades newer and bigger venues in terms of showmanship and excitement from the time you enter the gates until you are in the seats. It is indeed the Mecca of badminton. Every year, people are enthralled by the improvements made - not to mention that this year, there were lots more Djarum Girls ..... an essential component, wakakakakaka.
Djarum Events will remain the Gold, nay, Diamond standard of how a badminton event should be promoted, planned, and executed.
