Ars fantome vs 100x ultra

Currently I m using tk f ultra and hs plus, and I m looking to get fantome or 100x ultra. Any comparison would be very helpful. Their stiffness and even their balance point seems very similar, so I m curious how they play on court. 100x ultra seems like less hh version or tkf ultra, while fantome seems flexier version of hs plus. What do guys think?

Hello, I have played with all 4 of these rackets, with HS-Plus currently my most favorite racket, I would like to share my personal comparison between them.

Stiffness: HS-Plus > 100X Ultra = TKF Ultra > Fantome. However I would consider the Fantome a pretty stiff racket too.

Balance point: Fantome > 100X Ultra = HS-Plus = TKF Ultra. Fantome has a very high balance point, the other 3 are more or less the same, as Victor rackets always seem to have large variations in specs between those of the same model.

Clear: they all do very well, there is no significant difference between them, but if I have to rank them then 100X Ultra > HS-Plus > TKF Ultra = Fantome

Drive: HS-Plus is the most stable and has the most weight behind its drives. Fantome has the fastest swing. 100X Ultra and TKF Ultra have very nice drives too. Overall I would rank HS-Plus > 100X Ultra = TKF Ultra > Fantome

Smash: HS-Plus > 100X Ultra > Fantome = TKF Ultra. This is the area that I’m most certain about.

Control: HS-Plus > TKF Ultra > 100X Ultra = Fantome. The combination of super light weight + super high balance point gives me accuracy troubles with Fantome.

Defense: HS-Plus and Fantome excel at this area in their own way. HS-Plus’ super stiff shaft + compact frame makes returning shot an intimidating attack on its own, if your strength and skill are up for it. Fantome is so fast, it would give a boost in reflex I feel. 100X Ultra and TKF Ultra are decent enough.

Overall for me HS-Plus is a near perfect racket: formidable smashes, super stable drives and superb control. 100X Ultra is perhaps the most “fun” racket of the 4, being able to dish out super steep smashes and drives while also is decent enough at other areas. TKF U too is decent in all area but is a bit boring, similar to Astrox 77 Pro, another racket that is decent to great everywhere but excels at nothing (No, TKF Ultra doesn’t play similarly to 77 Pro, I’m just using 77 Pro as an example of a great all around but boring racket from Yonex). Fantome is also a super fun racket to play with, blazing speed with superb mid to front court smashes.

I own 4 HS-Plus including a 3U, 4 Fantome including a 3U, 3 100X Ultra including a 3U, and 2 TKF U both 4U. Been playing with them since the release. Hope my input helps.

Thanks for your insight @gimmeracquet . I have been using the 100x ultra for the last two days and still can not adjust my swing. The slim shaft plus metallic feels really weird. As many in this forum have posted before, the racket feels unstable. I still wonder what could actually be the benefit of having a slim shaft. Could it be power or speed? The racket doesn't really feel faster or has much better smash than the BS12 in my opinion.

It does feel weird at first, but having played with TKF Ultra a few months prior, I didn’t take much time adapting to 100X Ultra. Maybe it’s different for everyone, but it’s stable enough for me.

At first I thought the slim shaft is for speed. Like faster drives and faster swing etc. Then having played with it for a while now, I think it’s actually for power. It’s not only super slim, but also very whippy and with good elasticity for continuous quick smashes/drives. Like some rackets are stiff and don’t bend at all during smashes, 100X Ultra is pretty stiff and it bends during smashes for whippy feel then it straights back very quickly too. I think it’s because of the materials. I’m sorry if my explanation is difficult to understand.

Are you talking about the original BS12 or the newly released BS12 Pro? Yes I think they are both faster than 100X Ultra, but for me 100X Ultra has much better offense.

Actually both, and I think both are really similar rackets. The thing is I think the 100X Ultra plays like a medium-stiff racket. You can definitely generate power with it, but the technique would be different from using a stiff racket. In other words, they provide different kinds of "offense". Just like you mentioned, the 100X ultra is more towards "whippy" and "quick smash". The problem is it's just too whippy for my liking. I don't feel like it straightens back quickly enough, hence the unstable feel. I do believe that generating power with speed rackets already require more "whip" than head-heavy offensive rackets in the first place, but finding the right balance in terms of stiffness could be a challenge. Victor already did a great job with previous speed rackets. Consider the HS plus which is such a great racket with quite a stiff shaft. I think they try to do something new with this super whippy slim shaft by balancing it out with metallic carbon to make it stiffer. Maybe adding more metallic for the future 100x ultra II or 100x ultra pro could improve the racket 😅? I'm just too used to stiff rackets and will require time to adjust.

Thanks for such a detailed response. I don't suppose you have also tried the 90k metallic and have any opinions on that vs the hs plus?

How user friendly is HS-Plus? Usually rackets with compact head tends to be quite hard to tame for intermediate players due to it's small sweet small. I had experience it with ZF2, it's a very powerful racket but never had great experience with it as I can't get the sweet spot correct most of the time.

Thank you very much for this! It look like we have different feel about hs plus and tkf ultra. Hs plus is amazing at mid court and great for interceptions but for smash tkf ultra is better for me and more hh than hsplus. This might be due to I havent completely recovered from 2 year absence of playing badminton and couldnt tame the stiffness of hsplus yet. I used to use nf800 and felt like hs plus is also a great choice but right now having difficulties with it at the back court especially smashes.
I am a front court player and already pretty good at interceptions and setting up, so I felt like from your review and my own idea, 100x might give me better quality shots at the back court because I do not need anything additional from the racket at the mid and front court. I wouldnt use very hh racket anyway, dont like them. 100x sounds more offensive than Fantome.

I'm more impressed that you have multiple same rackets in your bag.
Usually I buy two rackets if there is a new release, if I like it a lot then an extra one or two more. It's easy getting hold of new rackets here in China.

Actually both, and I think both are really similar rackets. The thing is I think the 100X Ultra plays like a medium-stiff racket. I agree with most of what you said. I think Victor was a bit rushed with TKFU and 100XU. Or perhaps all went according to their plans, and we might be seeing TKFU II and 100XU 2 next year hahaha...

Thanks for such a detailed response. I don't suppose you have also tried the 90k metallic and have any opinions on that vs the hs plus?
I have tried the 90K Metallic before getting a hold of the HS-Plus. For me I feel they both belong in the offense-oriented speed racket category, rackets that are stiff and fast and excel at drives, and also provide decent to good smashes, but not speedy in the traditional sense. 90KM has harder all out smashes, HS-Plus has heavier drives, they have similar speed. 90K is stiff but HS-Plus is even stiffer. I enjoy both rackets a lot but prefer HS-Plus' look and I feel it is a better racket overall, eventhough just slightly. Both are superb choices whether if you play singles or doubles.

How user friendly is HS-Plus? Usually rackets with compact head tends to be quite hard to tame for intermediate players due to it's small sweet small. I had experience it with ZF2, it's a very powerful racket but never had great experience with it as I can't get the sweet spot correct most of the time.
Its stiffness and compact head on paper would make us think it's not user friendly. It is not, but it's not that hard to get used to. At least for me, I was surprised by how fast I could adapt to it during the very first session I played with it, having heard about how hard of a racket it is from other people. Of course it's not as powerful as ZF2, but it's a lot easier to get used to and it is certainly more versatile and a lot easier to maneuver around the shots. And the most important point for me is, it is more powerful than most if not all "speed rackets" that I have ever tried, especially the 3U version.

Hs plus is amazing at mid court and great for interceptions but for smash tkf ultra is better for me and more hh than hsplus. You are right, different rackets feel differently to different people. For me HS-Plus' smashes are only below those of the heavy hitters', I can't think of any other "speed racket" that hits harder than HS-Plus at the moment, including 90KM 100XU 1000Z etc.
I think, if you enjoyed NF800, 100XU would be a great choice too. It's easier to get used to than HS-Plus and so far for me it certainly is better than Fantome, offensively and all-around.

Have been using 88D pro, Axforce 100 for a long time. Wanted to try some head light/speed racquets, I played with 100x U 4U, as everyone said head is not stable, too much vibration, not that stiff too. But I really liked the smooth swing, survived big clash and the responsiveness.

So I bought 3U 100xU. I am in love with this one, my defence, counter blocks and drops have become perfect. It can generate steep smashes, but not like one shot one kill or it's me who is not able to generate enough power 😂. Overall 3U 100xU is pretty stable, responsive and user friendly.

No idea why they wrote 100x ultra on one side of the shaft and the other end is just black colour. Paint and graphics could have been better.

I tried 100X U with Aerobite 25x27, it feels weird to me. I used to play with 88dp, 1000z. I tried 100X before buying 100X Ultra. Seems like 100X is more stable than 100X Ultra. 100X has little bit less power in smash but overall I feel 100X is better.
Not sure I need more time to adjust with 100x Ultra. Do you think its related to string and tension? Otherwise, I would buy 100X.

I am planning to buy HS+ or BS 12 SE. Which one is really better? I used to play speedy games and not hard hitter. I used 100z before but it sore my arm and tiring after few games. So I try to avoid this racket and play long hours with Balanced and Headlight rackets.

Need your suggestion.

HS+ is stiffer, more stable, better all around. BS12 SE is head heavier, and less stiff. It produces good power, has quick aero frame but overall just a bit slower than the HS+ because of the shaft. It can also feel a bit hollow for some reason. I have it in my bag for some time and just recently restrung it and used it for a tournament. It felt better than I used to remember. Anyway overall I would still recommend the HS+. It's just better all around and has newer and more packed technology.

Thanks. What about to compare it with 1000z? Do u use 3u or 4u? I used to play with 4u.

Do you think I should buy 100X instead of 100X Ultra? I felt vibration in 100X Ultra. I am not sure about others notice it or not.

Based on the information you have given, BS12 SE should be the better choice for you.

It is speedy and is one of the best at the drive game. Very comfortable, very fast.
Smashes are average, but like you mentioned you are not a hard hitter so it doesn’t matter. Every other aspect is decent to great. Very easy to just pick up and get used to too.

100X is also a good choice. It is great all around, just lacking a bit of smashing power. Suits your style.

HS+ and 100X Ultra are offense-oriented speed rackets, especially HS+, also very stiff. 100X Ultra has great offense too, but overall HS+ is more formidable. Perhaps these two rackets are not the best for you.

Thanks. I have heard that HS+ is similar to 1000z. Is it true? I used to play with 1000z as well. What you said about 100X is absolutely correct. I used 100X one week and played few matches. I felt the same, it has lacking power for smashing but stiff racket.

What do you guys use string and tension for HS+ or 100X or BS 12 SE?

For me, HS+ and 1000Z don’t feel that much similar. Both are fast and stiff, but HS+ plays stiffer, like 2 levels stiffer than 1000Z. 1000Z’s thick frame also feels very different especially for slices and drops.

Currently I use XB63 and 80P on 90% of my rackets, tensions ranging from 28 to 30lbs.

HS+ is very stiff and very accurate on its own, so a highly repulsive string like XB63 should be good giving you some extra power. 100X is not as stiff, any string with decent repulsion and control will do. BS12 SE is fast and versatile, pairing it with a hard string like 80 or 80P should give it better control and precision. Regarding string tensions, I think everyone has their own personal preference.

Thank you. I am planning to use Kizuna 61. I used to play with XB 65

I am little confused about 100X, BS 12 SE, Halbertec 9000 and Halbertec 8000. Did anyone played with these?

Do you have any comparison?

Hello, I have played with all 4 of these rackets, with HS-Plus currently as my most favorite racket, I would like to share my personal comparison between them.

It's surprising that the Fantome, despite its balance point being the head heaviest to have the fastest swing. It's an intriguing racket! A pity it is not available in europe yet
