Asian Games years could be moved in shake-up: Reports

The reported proposal would mean Asia's biggest sporting spectacle doubling up as qualifying and preparation for the Olympics, giving it added significance.

This is interesting. That means badminton players will have to maintain peak forms for 2 straight years.

Implementation year will be 2031, seemingly starting with Doha, since it will be pushed back by a year.

Song Luzeng, vice president of the OCA, told Xinhua: "It would allow the Asian Games to serve as a qualifying event for the Olympics, giving more elite athletes valuable competition opportunities and raising the overall standard of the Games."

That is interesting indeed.

Do the Asian Games offer more or fewer ranking points compared to other continents? If so, that could be seen as unfair advantage other athletes.

Asian Games isn't mentioned, so I'm not sure if Asian Games offer points or not.

But if Asian Games is considered a continental game, then Asian Games is equivalent to a Superseries, which offers the most ranking points of all the continental games.
