It was a lightning start for the INA pair in the second set as they quickly seized the initiatve by winning the first 8 pts to shock the Korean pair, who then took the next 3. The INA pair did the same to lead 11-3.

The KOR pair won more pts in the second-set but the INA pair was more aggressive and too strong as Nita Violina Marwah/Lanny Tria Mayasari beat Kim Min Ji/Park Min Jeong in straight-sets 23-21, 21-11.

Overall, Team INA beat KOR 3-1. The decision by PBSI to send a young team, especially the doubles, has paid off as the Women Team proudly brings home the Badminton Asia Team Championships trophy home to Jakarta. They deserve a bonus indeed!

I can relax now for the 4pm match-ups and I am only watching out for possible upset in MD1 (and hopefully MD2).

With the results in KL, Team INA will look forward to the Uber Cup Finals with optimism of maybe a medal?

The WS line-up is pretty much fixed with Gregoria Mariska Tunjung (WR27), Putri Kusuma Wardani (WR76) and Stephanie Widjaja (WR298) as WS1, WS2, and WS3; respectively. One more back-up player will be needed (doesn't matter who). The tough matches will be against DEN, THA, and IND if we wish to win a medal. JPN, CHN, and KOR are the teams to avoid until SF stage. If we can draw THA in the group stage, get the chance to beat them (from the 2 WDs and try very hard to get one of the WS).

As for WD, there will be additions in Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu (WR6) fielded as WD1. With Ribka Sugiarto likely still injured, Nita Violina Marwah/Putri Syaikah (WR38) will be WD2. Since Nita combined well with Lanny Tria Mayasari, she may be brought along too as a back-up.

INA will also likely field Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadanti in some matches of the Uber Cup Finals as both are groomed to be the successor to Greysia/Apri. So 6 WD players will be brought altogether.

It will be unlikely that Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi (WR121) will be brought along. They also lost twice to the scratch Korean pair.

First ever BATC gold medal for INA women's team, surprise? Nope, since the main contenders either skip this event or bring their B or even C team as so many lesser-known players show up here. Looks like INA will bring pretty much same players in singles category for Uber Cup 2022 while the doubles have Polii/Rahayu & Ramadhanti/Sugiarto. At least, the trophy delivers joy and oozing confidence for INA women's team who rarely score encouraging result in women's team competition.

The top four seeded should be JPN-CHN-KOR and THA and yes the latter should be the "weakest" among them. Thailand surely will relying point from singles categories.

    Tunjung v Intanon
    Wardani v Chochuwong
    Widjaja v Busanan

INA must steals one of those three WS matches considering to scoop two points through doubles category, still tough prospect but no impossible.

Did any of the INA fans notice - I thought Jorji looks a lot slimmer???
She used to be quite "chubby".

Chico takes the first set 21-14. Hmm...can he take the first match and push the tie to at least MD2?

malaysia up 1-0. With this lineup, my prediction is either 3-0 or 3-2 in favor of Malaysia. Malaysia tetap boleh!

Well, Wardoyo had good start to take opening game with full speed attacking mode to surprise LZJ who possibly still analyzed his rival game plan. In next two games, discrepancy of their world ranking speaks volume as Lee started to slow down the tempo and playing more constructed rallies, the Indonesian sometimes lack of patience and rushed to smash that contributed cheap point for the Malaysian. Chico should take top-tier tours regularly (soon after his WR up into top 30) to enrich competing experience.

What a brilliant turnaround when trailing at 15-17, the Babies Leo/Daniel won 6 consecutive pts to take the first set 21-17.

Wow 18-18 G3 , MAS pair is all over the place. Closer than i thought it should be, maybe AaronSoh needs to train harder. Got away with it.

Daniel Marthin is playing really well imo.

It was a very close match and a wasted opportunity for the Babies, leading 18-17 only to be overturned 18-21 in the rubber-set.
Daniel Marthin missed an opportunity to kill the bird at 18-18 and Soh Wooi Yik was instrumental in the last phase of the match.

With the tie at 2-0, I don't think Team MAS will throw the title away.

Indonesian mens doubles are way more dependable in team competitions compared to Malaysian mens doubles.

Carnando/Marthin almost did it to stun Aaron Chia/Soh WY, it's about mental game at brink of finish line, don't see huge gap between INA rookies and Tokyo OG bronze medalists in this match. Ng Tze Yong sealed the victory for MAS and dethrone title-holder INA, dictating the match since the beginning, progessive development lately, he competed more international tournaments last year.

Looking at player's age of two finalists, nothing much age difference between INA and MAS squad (except MD1).
    MS1, Wardoyo (1998) v Lee ZJ (1998)
    MD1, Carnando/Marthin (2001) v Chia/Soh (1997/1998)
    MS2, Rumbay (2000) v Ng TY (2000)
    MD2, Fikri/Bagas (1999/1998) v Goh/Izzuddin (1997)
    MS3, Adinata (2001) v Leong JH (1999)

It's time for INA to send those singles back-ups in more low-tier or satellite tournaments, need fast track improvement for smooth regeneration.
