Wow, it is AMAZING that Bao CL has entered all the 6 star tournaments in the past year:

    04/09/2005 CHINA MASTERS 2005 6* 4590.00 Runner-Up
    06/11/2005 Hong Kong Championship 2005 6* 4590.00 Runner-Up
    13/11/2005 PICC CHINA OPEN 2005 6* 4590.00 Runner-Up
    04/06/2006 DJARUM INDONESIA OPEN 2006 6* 4590.00 Runner-Up
    27/08/2006 Korea Open 2006 6* 5400.00 Winner

Bao entered all the 5 top 6 star opens in the year! and also won the highest prize open in the history (correct me if I'm wrong). Only Lin Dan came close with 2 entering! None for Lee CW. What a great achievement!

Here is the list for top players' results at 6 star final:

Bao ChunL: 5 times (1 win)
Lin Dan....: 2 times (2 wins)
Chen Hong: 1 time (1 win)
Chen Jin...: 1 time (1 win)
    Taufik H...: 1 time (1 win)
Peter Gade: 1 time (0 win)
Lee CW...: 0 time (0 win)
Lee HI.....: 0 time (0 win)

By this definition, top tier players should be: Bao CL, Lin Dan, Chen Hong, Chen Jin, and Taufik. While Gade is like one leg inside, one leg outside. Lee CW and Lee HI still have a long way to go.

Bao CL had continued entering the 6 star opens 4 times as runner up, until this Korea Open, he finally won 1. Congratulations to him.

People remember champions, not runner-ups. Bao CL need to win more tournaments for people to take notice.

It's BCL's latest performance at Korea open that made me did some research. I was surprised that BCL much better than I thought before. I was surprised by myself's research of the data :D Then I shared my search results with everyone here.

Prehaps entering 6* finals 5 times and no winning is more remarkable than the actual champions.:p

Anyways, congrat to BCL, hope he will keep up the good work at WC.

I would look at the percentage of winning as per the number of attendence, see how LD is achieving 100% in 2 occasions, followed by CJ, CH, TH in 1 occasion etc...

I guess you've made mistaken on LEE HYUN ILL'S research, He won INDONESIA OPEN 2005, He beat Ponsana Bonsaak in the final, that was a also 6* tournament.

I suspect that this fell out of 2cents research year. If indon open 2005 occured before 4/9/2005 then this will be the case.

Statistics can be made to show anything!

Errr... I think we need to look at the issues on both sides. 100% is great, but the base number is smaller as well.

I wonder who will be a better player, if say 1 player always going into final but of course, did not win all. Or, a player only goes to final once a while, and have a higher percentage of titles.

Congrats to BCL for his first title!

But when I look to internationalbadminton.org I can see 15 titles for LD!!!
Long way to go for BCL...

I also think sometimes its's harder to win a 4 or 5 star tournament instead of a 6 star tournament...

Lin Dan and Peter Gade did not start at the Korian Open.
LCW lost in an early round...

I don't think BCL is nearly as good as these 3 players...
