Best Backhand(except Taufik)

since there are a lot of 'best' threads, we need a backhand one too. I think Chen Long and Viktor Axelsen have the best current best backhands. CL has an alround one, while VA hits a fearsome backhand smash. Who do you think has the best backhand? Except Taufik- hes too good to be considered.

Hi, just finished few chapters and can't wait for my exams now.

Back to the topic.

I poasted the same poast twice, that's why i edited my second poast and wrote ''corrupt poast''. Here, you can clearly see that my intentions were not to hurt you but rather to correct my mistake.

As for the lack of response to your question, let me make you happy.

Justin L : "Chen Long has the best Backhand."

Uncle Loh : ''Derek Wong has the best Backhand.Lin Dan's backhand is not even in the top 1000000"

Rob3rt : ''Lin Dan will not win the Olympics"

ssj100 : ''Weak Era"

nokh88 : "China sucks.China fans sucks.Chinese players are the worst. Lin Dan was made to look good by XYZ."

Volcom : "Boleh...oleh oleee ole"

Oh and our indian friends

"Srikanth s backhand is not bad at all"

Hope you enjoyed the joke.

Bye now.

I misunderstood it. Sorry. Us lin dan fans are going through spme tough times now. All the other indians love lee 'Chang' wei. But seriously, CL hits a killer backhand. As to srikanth i think his backhand is better than his forehand lol

I guess it depends what they wanna do.

I think LD has an amazing defensive backhand, including cross court clears, but don't expect him to ever use it for a smash.

LCW's spin jump backhand smash was something to behold.

Discounting the Indonesian players as most of them have such superb backhands that it wouldn't be quite fair :p I would say though that Ginting has the whippiest and most Taufik-esque one among the young guns while Sony is clearly a contender for the top spot amongst the old breed.

That aside, the obvious ones nowadays would be Viktor with his stinging backhand smash and Chen Long with one of the smoothest and most stable backhands. Would say that Viktor loses out to Chen Long just slightly as while he HAS a backhand smash, I feel that his general backhand really isn't that dynamic and he even seems a tad awkward playing shots in his backhand corner, whereas Chen Long has the ability to hit it anywhere he likes even in pressured situations while still being able to get excellent length and quality in his backhand shots about 85% of the time.

My personal choices asides from legend and idol Taufik  would be Chen Hong and Boonsak. I think that Chen Hong was, and still is, seriously underrated amongst the Chinese players of the past generation. I would suggest that he was somewhat overshadowed by Lin Dan who exploded onto the world scene around the time of his prime, but I remember Chen Hong as being one of the most skillful and wittiest of players during his time, possessing a wide array of shots in his arsenal with his backhand being particularly deceptive and executed with a distinct and unique motion. Possibly the last in the line of the more skill and stroke-play oriented Chinese players such as Sun Jun and others coached under Li Mao. Boonsak if I remember correctly, was coached in China for a period of time during his younger years and his general style very reminiscent again of the Sun Jun and Chen Hong generation of players. Skill-wise very complete and a master of strokes including a beautiful backhand as well, if only a little lacking in the physicality aspect especially today.

Ending off, I personally think that you will find the more outstanding backhands among the skill-based players rather than those focused on power and physicality. That said, most of the pros' backhands puts us casuals' ones to shame, really. :D All of these, of course, are just my opinions so take it all with a grain of salt chaps :)

I was expecting this thread to become a collection of the most awesome killer backhand clips available. So I feel like a bit less talking and more showing would make this a lot more entertaining.

Anyone has a clip at hand of that LCW spinning backhand smash that Charlie mentioned?

When it comes to flashy backhand smashes and such, I'd say Hu Yun, Boonsak and Axelsen.

When it comes to consistency, I'd say Chen Long and Son Wan Ho. Son almost exclusively hits straight drops from his backhand, but he hits them with such precision everytime it gets him out of trouble.

On a side note: have anyone ever seen Okuhara or Yamaguchi hit a backhand from the rear court? I've watched them play so many times but I've never come across them turning and playing that backhand.

I saidWYH hada bad backhand but actually it is good. But she makes the effort, most of the time, for the round the head shot.

The same applies for Okuhara and Yamaguchi I think.

The other day at the WS final of Asia Championship LXR and WYH had an exchange of backhand crosscourt clears, it was awesome.

It was at the Asian Games 2014 against LD, iirc.
