During smashing the hard feeling of BG80P let you feel the smashing it's much solid and the speed of shuttle seem to be faster ( i own feel ) if comparing to BG66um
i had great experience with bg80/bg85. i also had good experience with victor vs 850 and started using vs880 now and it's not bad. i had the most success with ashaway microlegend xl. to me the darn thing just won't break no matter how hard i hit, but maybe because i'm a weak smasher! the down side to a thick string at 0.73mm is that you don't get a lot of "feel" when you are hitting a touch shot.
Best feel and power combination I've had is from micropower but I've not tried many. Zymax 65 was good.
Z65 durable? Keep dreaming. If you want something with good power and durability then NBG95 or NBG98 is your answer.
BG66UM is for control so won't excel as a power string. BG80P is a bit more powerful but loses out on control.
I would defenitly go BG65, I play with 27/29 lbs (13kg).. I have tried everything; BG65Ti - Feels very alive, but only for the first hour... after a week the tension drops back and it starts to feel dead... BG68Ti - Breaks within the first hour, is not up to the job... BG70PRO - Is kinda nice, holds tension quite OK, feels dead (HOLDS FOR OVER 2 WEEKS) BG80 - Snaps within two weeks, OK power though BG85 - No power, snaps in a week, feels dead NBG95 - Feels dead, is not up to the job cause in like a week it feels like 20 lbs... runs back very fast (HOLDS FOR OVER TWO WEEKS) NBG98 - Feels quite alive, snaps in a week CBG100 - Feels very alive, nice power, snaps in a week BG65 - Feels alive, best power of all, best durability of all... But that's ofc. my vision on these snares...
ngb98 holds for longer then 1 week mine has lasted 4 2 months now an 28lbs and power was absoloutly amazing at first but now it feels dead hard to get powerful smash even on sweet spot hits
It would be very interesting if you would make a comparison between BG80, VS850 and VS880. Especially between the latter two
vs850 seemed to have the roughest outside surface of any string i've used. vs880 has smooth surface like other strings. in terms of power, i am able to get more from 880 than from 850. in terms of control, even when i've used the string for a month, i can still get more control from 850 than from 880. i've used both strings on a victor sw35. durability wise, definitely the 880 is twice as durable as the 850. even when i started stringing the 850 it started frailing, but maybe because i suck at stringing.:crying: i don't know if it matters but the 850 is made in japan while 880 is made in taiwan.
