What is it with Kevin giving the Danish pair the thumbs down at the end of the match?

I think Kevin is trying to point out that the Danes are trying to cheat..

It happened to them in Ina Masters too..

and there is difference between cheating and the rest in sports...If you dont admit the obvious then thats cheating.

Well it is a long story. To make it short, that was quite unnecessary. But this is Kevin vs Conrad. Never had a good ending between them.

It's necessary. It's critical point. Thank God the shuttlecock landed right on the line. What if it landed outside the line? Conrad's racket definitely touched the shuttlecock and changed its direction.

Can't referee see an instant review before making a judgment?

The minions get emotional easily and have attitude issues but I never seen them cheating or even making attempt to cheat.

Probably should have been a red. But to give a red to Indonesian player in Indonesia?? I am sure the umpire thinks twice if he wants to get out of the country alive.... Hahhaa..

No way kevin knows the shuttle is in or out anyway.

and yeah we hate cheaters, what if it was Out.

and come on Kevin doesnt care its yellow or Red, he can lose this tournament as long as he is right. that is Him.

Didn't see the match so cannot judge on the situation. But I would be surprised to see an umpire give Kevin a red card in Indonesia considering how fans treated Boe last year, unless he/she absolutely had no choice.

I remember Axelsen actually gave away one point because he touched the net.. and the referee gave the point to him.
I think that is true sportmanship...

Men's Double is emotional discipline anyway where very close details can affect the outcome of the match

Actually that doesnt make up for the point lost for A, Its just getting rid of point gained by B

Well the match had been ugly since the start with a lot of tension between the players especially Kevin and Conrad. Not to mention they each lost a game in a very close margin. And the umpire had been very unhelpful most of the time, warning all players here and there as if to increase the tensed atmosphere rather than to make everything kept in order.
Then the umpire made a mistake like the one the umpire from Indonesian masters did where Kevin, again, also made a fuss back then. I guess the umpire felt quite uneasy with his 'not seeing' the shuttlecock touched by the Danish. Desperately trying to explain himself to Kevin which I thought unnecessary if he was not going to fault the Danish anyway.

So yeah. Another drama between the regulars. Nothing has changed.

Maybe his racquet didn't touch the shuttlecock. It's for the umpire to make the decision.

agreed. But better than just taking the point....There was nothing else Axelsen could have done once the referee awarded the point to him..

I have a feeling Intanon Ratchanok is giving a bit more priority to the THA Open WTS500 event on home soil, her third back-to-back tournament where expectations on her delivering is higher.

BWF needs to evaluate umpires regularly.

It's like a never ending circle of incompetence. smh

Maybe we can see it if we slow down the video. I'll try it later on the video from BWF and the other one on smashnation7.com
