That's outrageous! Two major mistake in 2 matches from this referee. How do referees are selected to judge matches and tournaments? Is there a point system (like football) to judge how they perform and to be sanctioned in order to make sure the best referees are judging the most important matches?

I think Ahsan/Hendra played well here. Their placements troubled minions a lot. The key to minions victory is mostly on Kevin doing well at the net. One slip and Ahsan/Hendra could turn the table on them.

Minions forced to lift more often than they want to in the first game, thanks to the clever placement of ahsan/hendra. I think the service errors from hendra really cost them the first game. kevin only being so dominant in the second game, especially after the interval.

Which is why minions could have a more comfortable lead in G2 unlike the first game, it could have gone either way.

Wow one of those finals where on paper, there is no upset....

The seeds either won; or in the case of both seeds facing off, the higher seed won.

Seriously happy for CTC; likeable dude (albeit always looking lethargic) scoring his first WTS1000!

Did anyone notice he changed to someone else’s shirt for the speech? I was like ehhhhhh!???!?

CTC was out of fresh shirts of his own after throwing the shirt he wore to the crowd:D. Someone was kind enough (probably his teammate?) to throw him a fresh one.

his side of the foot was swollen like a ball and I think it will take some time for him to recover but I hope he recovers well.

The problem with him is that he got too fast and Thats what caused CM to injure herself too..I dont want him to play fast especially not in these minor tournaments...if he does wanna give his all I would want him to give it in WC or OG.

These minor tournaments are not worth taking the risk of injury.

Definitely not gona play in Japan or Thailand I guess...Even WC is doubtful but I want nothing but best health for him.

Apologies... Umpires are volunteers and are compensated with travel tickets & hotel accommodations if I remember correctly. Yet I wonder if there is a sort of ranking among them in order to select the best for the major tournaments. May be it would be time to profesionnalise umpiring in badminton.

Being a super 1000, the Indonesia open is definitely a major tournament. And if SYQ want to qualify for the Olympics he has to perform to those major and inferior tournaments.

Most importantly he is Chinese and it's probably the strongest badminton nation or the second strongest at the moment. He has a lot of competition to secure a spot for a Tokyo 2020 qualifying spot. 2 options for him:

    - The easiest is to be the second best Chinese player in the rankings inside the top 8.

    - Or to be the best Chinese MS player in the rankings regardless of being in the top 8 or not.

With LD and CL most importantly it's not a walk in the park. Even the veteran (LD) scores decent points during the World Tour. SYQ has to perform to all tournaments he enters has he needs to outperform other Chinese players and simply other players to get the highest ranking possible. Can't go easy and be a champion I'm afraid. Hopefully he can come back by October/November at 100%.

She is his physiotherapist. I'm not sure if she is really a badminton coach. They seem to be very close always working together. CTC does a lot of injury prevention exercises. Her instagram account to see more of her work worh CTC:

All the tournaments are major tournaments, imo. These are WorldClass tournaments. JapanOpen is big too. Gotta win them all, if you can.
