Break-My-String's (UN) Official Badminton Slangs

Home Run
A smash that’s hit high at the opponents lands out at the back of the court.

I thought a home run is a smashing success and scores lots more points! :D

Haha, it's more of... Hitting it "out" of the ballpark!

Here's another...

Limbo
Dodging smashes (like doing the slow-mo Matrix scene) and the shuttle lands out.

"Save it for the game, you don't want to use up your quota!" :D
During warm-up, your opponent made a fantastic shot.

Cheers!

You mean FORE!! ??

/Twobeer

A wayward golf shot that went wrong!

Don't be surprised that many Singaporean golfers will yell out 'BALL' instead. I suppose this sounds easier than 'FORE' as a wild ball is coming and the fact that in excitement, one is unable to differentiate between the two words. :D

I don't mean every time the opponent smashes, only when you make it specifically easy. But, I see it's for the advanced only...

6/49 Winner
Simular to "Surfin" except it is a drop shot that touches the net & tumbles over winning the rally.

I Know A Good Lawyer! (another fav)
A stronger male Player picking & hitting a weaker female Player in the torso.

Fore!
Simular to "Waaay Low", except the contact point is low the ground, as in golfing.

Waaay Low
An attempt to drive the shuttle, contacting at net height, but the shuttle goes downwards and doesn't even come close to getting over the net.

Xmas Comes Early
A mid-court lift that is suppose to be an easy kill/smash but the Player hits it into the net, as in receiving a "Xmas Gift".

Cheers!

We call this the Gift, as in, THANKS FOR THE GIFT
oR THE attacker sings HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

Also, when the shuttle goes too wide, we shout (matched with a gesture made by a line judte) IN ... SIDE THE ADJACENT COURT
:D

When I played in Burbank. I heard them say Justice.

Justice = a good shot that was called out. Then the person who called it out immediately made an error on the next play.

Can I show you my recent lumps...

Whac-A-Mole
When the front offensive doubles partner get "smashed in the back of the head" by their own partner.

or Karma .

when you play a shot you think is good, but is questionably called out, you don't need to be too put off about it, because Karma will have it so that the next immediate point will be yours.

or sometimes the shuttle lands and oddly enough nobody can tell whether it was out or in. but after the next point is won, we can exchange our wise meaningful nods. ;)

A few more..

..(here are a few basketball related slangs, used a while back):

Double Dribble : When a player receives a drop shot and couldn't return it cleanly. Instead it bounces back on the player's racket

Air Ball or Nothin' But Air : When a player goes for an easy fore-court shot or loose return and totaly misses it.

Travelling : When a player got stuck in one corner of the court, after hitting the shuttle, and tries to chase back a shuttle sent to the other corner but to no avail.

From Downtown : When a player clears a shuttle, under pressure, but the shuttle goes all the way out of the court.

3 Second Violation : When a player gets stuck in his/her own court after being fooled by a flick serve

Off The Rim : When a player simply whacks the shuttle on the racket's frame
